Words can not express how much I loved this issue. Batman: The Return is the perfect setup issue for Morrisons new run on Batman. It introduces you to the new Bruce, sets up a new villain, and lays some clues for future events.

From the looks of it Bruce is going to take a step back and become more of a general and less of a soldier in his war against crime. In this issue Bruce rallies his troopers and gives each of them their missions. Even though he doesn't reveal what is overall plan is, you can tell its something big. The amount of confidence Bruce has at the end of this issue was wonderful. Morrison's grasp on Bruce is amazing, even though you can tell he is a changed character he is still recognizable to the reader. He is the same old Bruce just with more joy in him.

Now onto the art. David Finch was born to draw Batman. Right after seeing that opening two page spread of Bruce you could tell that his art has the perfect tone to fit this book. Its dark and edgy with tons of shadows. This issue really help cement Bruce's new costume and how it should always look.

Overall this issue made me very happy for the future of the bat books. Just like Bruce you can tell that Morrison has a big plan and I can't wait to see what it is.
