It is sad that poorly done Bat books can still survive and brilliant and imaginative books like Dial H are on the verge of being cancelled. After Batman made the joke about his boots being laced too tight and he couldn’t count his toes… I about stopped reading.

But I continued and it really didn’t get much better. I about fell asleep a few times as well. It was very wordy and it doesn’t seem that Gregg Hurwitz has a good grasp on this type of storytelling. I thought the retelling of Mad Hatters origin was weak and I am not at all interested to see the confrontation between Hatter and Batman in the next issue.

The art is this book is decent, not Van Sciver’s best but it was the only thing that made turning a page in this issue worthwhile.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 4 - Very Good

Comments

  1. Will you be dropping the title after this issue?

    • I just picked the last couple up… I used to collect it when it first came out but dropped after issue 5. It was bad then, not much better now. Loved Penguin Pride and Prejudice, and Van Sciver is good. so figured I’d like this.

  2. I was finished not that long ago also. I have plenty enough Batman books right now that are much much better

    • Batman and Batman and Robin have been well worth the money. Other than that I’m spending my money on the Dark line of the New 52. Trying to keep titles like JLD, Animal Man, Dial H and Phantom Stranger going.

  3. I thought this issue was great. I don’t know what you’re talking about.
