I grew up watching Batman: The Animated Series. Consequently, Paul Dini can do no wrong in my eyes.
Overall, this issue is a lot of fun. Short, but fun. There is more of a focus on the villains of this issue. Dini’s dialogue is spot on, with the interaction between Dick and Damien giving me a couple of chuckles. Though I thought the climax with Hush would be a little more explosive, I like the direction this title is heading in.
However, I’m not exactly sure what the purpose of this title is. I know Batman is about Dick Grayson, Batman and Robin is the centerpiece to the entire Bat-Universe, Gotham Sirens is about the Gotham Sirens, I just think that the stuff that’s happening could totally be happening in Batman. I feel like this title would be better served as something more like Rucka and Brubaker’s Gotham Central. I mean Streets of Gotham just evokes more of a sense of gritty, street level stuff. Just a thought.
I’d say pick this up if you’re a fan of Dini’s work and seeing the Hush storyline unfold, otherwise, since we’re not all made of money, I’d let this issue pass.

  1. I still need to give Gotham Central a try one of these days.  It’s on my list but it is a very long list!
