Okay.  Now that is a way to wrap up an arc.  It’s also, in my opinion of course, a very worthy way to end a chapter in the ever progressing story of story of Tommy Elliot.  And last but not least, that is the way to wrap up a series!

I’m sad to see Streets Of Gotham go the way of the Do Do, but #21 goes out of business in reasonable style!  I wished Morrison had wrapped up all the loose ends and plot threads of his final issue of Batman & Robin with the same fashion that Dini just gets right to the point in this final entry of a somewhat lengthy Batman tale.  That issue was such a mess!!  I hope more Batman stories end up ending this way (by actually making sense, I guess BW really couldn’t figure out after all this time that the mysterious Dr. Hurt is buried in a box right behind a mansion)…

I have a feeling Dini and Nguyen haven’t worked in Gotham City together for the last time.  After all, Streets Of Gotham wasn’t the first Bat-title with the crew at the helm.  They worked together on Detective for a good amount of time as well.  I hope they get another gig in the future.  Third time is a charm!!

  1. I love Paul Dini’s Batman.  Including B:TAS, he has probably written a majority of my favorite Batman stories.  But I think the real loss here is Nguyen’s art.  The man was born to draw Batman.  I think the problem this title had was that no one knew what to expect from it.  If this had been its first arc it would have probably had a stronger following, but with several different writers taking the book in different directions, I think this series was passed around a little too much. I never knew if I should expect a Batman story or a story about a random character from Gotham.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved the random issues (the issue about the broker is one of my favorite single issues of any comic from 2010), but I just never knew what the book was trying to be.

Also, this was a great review.  I agree with everything you said about Morrison’s end to B&R.  How about a little closure for a year and a half long run, right?

  2. @buck2889  totally concur on the Broker issue.

  3. Nguyen is doing Batgirl so he’s not all the way outta Gotham yet.  I hope him and Dini get to work on the main Batman book after they finally get sick of the junk Daniel is puttin out over there!!
