We finally return to House Of Hush 60 days after the 11-page first segment!! This time we get the whole 22 story pages worth also!! I'm not gonna say it was worth waiting all that time, but so far this story has shown in good faith that Dini has what it takes to return to the true form we haven't seen since Streets Of Gotham's first arc (Hush $)!!
Jane Doe has to be the best new rogue in Gotham!! She just creeps the hell out of me, and that's what Batman's villains are supposed to be like!! This is Gotham, not Metropolis!! Anybody who read the first segment of this arc would soon realize that the parole board wasn't going to let Jane out regardless if they read this issue or not. She does manage to escape though, and I'm sure Tommy Elliot had it planned out that way all along.
Tommy Elliot is probably the smoothest villain Batman has ever gone against, and I love him for it (no, not man on man love, you freaks). He always cause plenty enough problems for Batman and pals and he does it without even getting his hands dirty most of the time. That's why I love this character! He's so much more patient and civilized then most of Batman's arch-enemies, and that makes for good reading whenever he is involved.
I've been following Hush for a long time now. I gotta admit that Loeb's original take on the guy was probably the best which wouldn't surprise most because that arc was probably one of the best Batman arcs of the past decade if you don't wanna include Batman & Son, but Dini's stories about Tommy Elliot blow Hush Returns out of the water!! If you're one of those people who won't give Dini's Hush a chance because you lost so much respect for Elliot during the never completed Hush Returns arc, you really should think about giving Tommy another chance now!! Morrison on Batman might be the actual best Batman stuff out there right now in mine and the opinion of most folk, but Dini has definitely been coming in at a very consistent second place since way back when his run on Detective started!! If you're a big Batfan like me, and you need to branch out on to something else Batman besides what Morrison is doing, then this is where you should be looking most of the time. Especially when Dini is doing his Tommy Elliot disguised as Bruce Wayne stuff.
Not only that, but Dustin Nguyen's style of pencils go hand and hand with Batman comics like Godzilla goes hand in hand with King Kong. I can't imagine this guy doing anything other then Batman comics, unless it was something dark and NOIR like. I thought the guy was born to do Batman stuff back when he was doing pencils on Tec, but his game has been getting even better and better since Streets Of Gotham started!! I hope this guy draws Batman comics as long as I wish Kurt Busiek would keep writing Astro City comics. The man was just born for the damn job!!
Now I understand that the solicits for Streets Of Gotham were getting a bit wonky there for a while and throwing everybody off, but it's time to put that behind us and forget about it now. If we can forgive Morrison for all his delays, then there is no reason to hold a grudge to these Bat creators as well.
Go pick up Streets Of Gotham #14 and pick this issue up as well. If you enjoyed Heart Of Hush and Hush Money, then you'll be all over this arc (so far) like flies on horse shit!! You might even like the backup feature also but I didn't. I preferred Manhunter more but I still feel as if I got my money's worth and this just might be my PICK OF THE WEEK even though it costs a buck more than everything else I pulled this week (Flash and GL Corps)...
Okay, it's getting hot in here and I should have said enough here to convince you to go pick this issue up if I haven't already. If this title gets canceled because not enough people wanted to buy it anymore, then I'm going to be really pissed off!!

Dustin Nguyen is def one of my fave artists, and is included in what I call A-list artists, with the likes of Patrick Gleason and Doug Mahnke from DC; and Greg Land, Steve McNiven, and Oliver Coipel at Marvel.
Met Dustin at a comic con in LA few years ago, told me was going to do Batman and seemed excited about it, but said it’s an assignment that’s easier to draw. This particular issue seemed a little sloppy, almost lazy for DNguyen, even though I always like his style of work; but maybe cus I hold him in such high esteem, my standards for him are higher, but that’s what I noticed.
