At this point, you’re either fully on board the crazy train or you got right off after issue 1 or 2…Volume 1?

I’m happy to say I’m in the former category. This comic never ceases to put a smile on my face or produce a belly laugh.

First and foremost, I love the art. Now, it’s not nearly as fully realized as earlier issues and nowhere close to Adams’ best work but it speaks to me in a way that a lot of contemporary comic book art just doesn’t. It kind of has a Mad Magazine feel to it (I mean, look at the cover), which I know is a turn off to some, but not me. I dig it.

The story, dialogue, and tone are completely all over the place. I mean, a wizard uses the word “uncool.” Also, why is there a wizard in a Batman comic?

It’s weird choices like that that make “Batman: Odyssey” one of the most wild, trippy, fun comics on sale today and when it’s over, if it’s ever over, I doubt we’ll ever see anything quite like this again. Which might be for the best.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 4 - Very Good
