Batman is fundamentally a silly concept. No man would be able to routinely fight criminals on the streets without using guns, and thats before you consider having to do it while wearing a giant cape. However, countless talented creators have been able to use this idea to tell amazing stories by skipping over the sheer impossibility of it.
Not so much this comic. The majority of this comic is spent with Bruce questioning why he fights crime, why he doesnt use guns and why he doesnt kill. Its feels like those conversations that every comic fan has had about Batman, and all those conversations eventually come down to the same point "he doesn't do those things because it wouldnt be a very interesting comic".
On top of a very out of character Bruce Wayne (even if it is an elseworld you cant just give him a completely different personality without giving a reason) there is relentless caption boxes as well as thought balloons. Yes, thought balloons.
Pretty art doesnt counterbalance the excessively wordy writing and fundamentally flawed concept. Not recommended

Couldn’t agree more. I so wanted to like this, but there’s no getting over its awfulness. Such a shame.
This review pretty much says it all. I was being generous with a "3" rating overall. Neal does a "Miller" here and just doesn’t work.
I’m on board with this assessment. The art was peculiar, though not unwelcome, but the script was poor-poor-poor. I had little idea of what was going on from panel to panel, not a good sign.
I had a bad feeling about this book, the back of the book preview was weird.
This issue was indeed a mess. It’s too bad because Adams was such an amazing Bat creator back in the day. The art was not terrible, but I know he’s capable of better.
