Okay, so this issue was GREAT, and I'll cover that before I get into what I really want to say (or predict). The majestically rendered Batman Inc. continues with one of Chris Burnham's best issues to date. The action is complex (yet straightforward), as is most of the issue. The "Leviathan" story-line maintains its grisly and mysterious appeal, as Morrison takes us on a journey very reminiscent of the legendary Batman & Robin 1-3, by he and Burnham's aesthetic predecessor, Frank Quitely. The story is equal parts blatant and confusing. First you think "Wow, that was cool!", then you think "WTF does that mean?". And that's the issue. Mostly. Okay, so I've been getting this feeling that DC is trying to FINALLY tie-in Dark Knight Returns with the main continuity. I got this notion when I read the collected run on Detective Comics by Snyder/Jock/Francavilla (THE BLACK MIRROR HC). Besides the fact that the book's major villain is the baby Batman saved from Year One, at the very end of the run you see the definite possibility that in 15-20 years, teenage psychopaths without morals will be running rampant in Gotham City. Which is basically the reason Batman comes back in Dark Knight Returns. And now we've been seeing more of the mutants from Dark Knight Returns (as in this issue). Besides that, this issue opens with Bruce Wayne retiring from being Batman. Also, it was stated that Bruce Wayne is "almost 40" in The Black Glove, and he's "passed 50" in Dark Knight Returns. Hmm... Now of course, some things don't match up with my theory. Mainly, Sgt. Essen (Commish Gordon's wife) died during No Man's Land, yet is still alive in Dark Knight Return. I think that she will be resurrected (I mean, Leviathan IS Talia Al Ghul) for some strange reason to make this all fit. Also, I believe Batman Inc. is still in the old continuity (where does it say its not?), and will be the final nail in everything previous to the new 52. Alright. That's all. Opinions?
