This issue is the third chapter in the Wrath Child story arc. It starts off with Gordon in his attic looking at his first uniform that has a blooding bullet hole in it. Batman shows up to question Gordon about the night of his parent's death. The Wrath intrupts this Q and A before Gordon gets a chance to explain what's what. The Wrath and Batman exchange so blows when Nightwing comes along. Nightwing goes inside to check on Gordon when the Wrath reveals his "Oh $#%!" moment, he had planted a bomb and blow the hell out of the house with Gordon and Nightwing inside! Now this is where the main part of this issue is, the answer to why the Wrath, and now his replacement, kills cops, and have a grude against Gordon. It turns out on the night the Waynes' died, Gordon killed two people in front of thier son. He killed the Wrath's parents. You could think of the Wrath as an anti-Batman. After this flashback, the Wrath trys to kill Batman with his 5000 rounds/min. HMG, but of course fails, and he escapes to fight another day. It is revaled that Gordon and Nightwing are find and tucked away in a panic room. Batman has also figured some thing else out. This new Wrath is not just a copycat, it is the Wrath's version of "Robin". The issue ends with the Wrath revealing a kick ass jeep, pimped out with some heavy atillery, Ready for a huge final battle.
This arc is leaps and bounds above the fisrt 12 issues of this series. It has had some awsome art. Morales and Farmer really bring that something extra to this arc. Bedard's story is just as good as the art. He is doing a awsome job going back and finding a charcter that is much like Batman and yet not. I can't wait to see how they wrap this up, but I'm sure it is going to be great.
Art: 5 - Excellent
I loved this issue! Nice to see that Rags still has the chops. I want him to do more now that his personal life is somewhat in control. I really like the idea of a "Robin" – type replacing the old Wrath. This one is sure to have a great conclusion.
