Like others I loved the TV series and was a little worried when I heard this series announced. I tried the first issue of the miniseries and didn’t care for it. Fortunately the ongoing (so far) has been much better. I love the incorporation of the future Justice League and how powerful and messy they seem. Individually they are extremely powerful but don’t seem to work real well as a team yet. This issue seems to be setting up Batman as their missing link. I sincerely hope that’s the direction the series goes in. I like that Beechen is writing Bruce Wayne with a sense of humor (“It would’ve been fun to beat them again”). My only criticism is that I hope Terry will soon be less of a student and more of a partner to Bruce. The story in this issue shows Bruce respecting Terry enough to let him make his own decisions – which shows development in their relationship. The only thing is that at this point I still need Bruce Wayne to be in every issue. Hopefully the character of Terry McGinnis’ Batman will grow enough so that won’t always be the case. Good issue. Good story-telling. Good art. Good writing. Batman Beyond…it’s good!
