This comic is bad. This comic stinks. This comic is 28 pages of an idea that could have been summed up in one line in one of the many other Battle of the Cowl tie ins.  Arkham blew up, but its ok doctor Arkham wants to rebuild it. Instead we get  a one shot story about a guy we dont care about and a bunch of low rent villains that give type-face a good name. I dont know what DC’s plan is with Arkham Asylum but they didn’t sell me with this comic.

  1. Could not disagree with you more on your assessment of this book.  While I think the last thing that the world needed was another BFTC Batman tie-in book this one was worth it.  It portrayed the dark underbelly of an institution that has been a central part of the Batman-mythos.  I think if I had any criticism of this issue it is that this should have been a mini series instead of Oracle.

I could have used three great issues like this one

  2. @BrikHed What dark underbelly.. It had a guy we never herd about taking care of villain that are on a d list…. what there thats woth the 3 dollar price tag.

  3. The "dark-underbelly" is the instituition itself.  How the "known" criminals treated Arkham, how he felt haunted and insprited by the visions of his uncle’s dream and his warped reality.  I am not sure if the three people he took care of were criminals as much as they were just insane – which is the purpose of an asylum.  Arkham is treated like a prison but in reality it is a mental hospital.  I appreciated seeing it being treated as such.

For me I hope they don’t rebuild Arkham but instead actually find a prison to put all of the criminals

  4. It was a bit of a Lovecraft tribute as well, wasn’t it? And a very good one i thought. Really nice little character piece and definitely the best of Battle for the Cowl so far, which otherwise seems to say the same thing over and over.
