This series has been very interesting to follow. the controversy around its creation and writer switching make it fun to see how good a job Dixon could do in so short of a time. Now we are 6 issues in and I still like following this series. The overall point of these missions and the menace behind them are still unclear, but I have faith that Dixon will deliver.
In this issue we have Metamorpho in space. I liked how he regained contact with Batman, and really showed what kind of character he is. On a side note I thought Rex and Sapphire were married, am I wrong? We also see Batman and the rest of team working on a way to save Rex. Now I think Batman would probably have access to a rocket without stealing, but it isn't too jarring of a issue that I was distracted from the story. The reveal of the trap at the rocket was well played, and keeps the reader hooked to trying to figure out who is pulling Batman's strings. The last scene with Ollie, and the look on his face as he says his last line sends chills down my spine and sets up a great cliffhanger.
Two minor nitpicks I have with the series are the Dibney's and Thunder. After the reveal of the Dibney ghosts last issue I was sad to not see them here. Hopefully they will be back soon, and will become a permanent part of this team. Also, the Thunder Grace storyline is boring to me. It seems like an afterthought that is just hanging in the issue. I hope this situation gets concluded soon, and Thunder is either fully accepted or she goes away for awhile.
The art is good, and fits the black-op feel of the book. The colors are muted and fits with the secrecy of the mission in the issue. All the characters look great, especially Metamorpho and GA. While not a perfect issue, it was still a lot of fun to read.
