Tomasi and Gleason continue to exceed my expectations with each passing month- this is just a great Batman book, plain and simple.
This issue sees Damian veering toward the dark side, and continues to explore the Batman/Robin relationship better than any book has before. Tomasi’s take on the Bat mythos continues to be refreshingly unique and makes the title of the book all the more appropriate. Gleason once again shines on art in a way he never really seemed to do on Green Lantern Corps. That book was always nicely drawn, this one is frequently stunning.
Alongside Snyder and Capullo’s Batman, this title is essential reading for anyone with even a passing interest in Gotham’s heroes, and deserves a lot more attention than it seems to be getting!

  1. I totally agree, this and Batman by Snyder/Capullo are the best bat-books on the shelves right now. The art is awesome, the writing is tight and the questions raised about the father/son issues are particularly great!

My guess, at this point in the story, is that Damian will fuck NoBody real good, just like Batman would screw someone over from the inside. Get close enough to your enemy and then strike! 😉

  2. This has been my favorite Batman book since Morrison started it with Mr Toad getting chased around with his suitcase full of dominos, although it was hard to understand sometimes.
