In the same week we get two new teams on the Dick Greyson Bat-books. While the Scott Snyder Detective Comics reads like a noir crime book this one is more of a horror comic. One that’s written just as well as Detective but with very different tones. Paul Cornell picks up where Grant Morrison left off and feels very similar to his book. Scott McDaniel’s art is quite good and the Alex SInclair colors are very bright and stand in contrast to Jock’s work on Detective. In many ways these two books are the opposite sides of the same coin and whether you will like this or the other depends on your preference of Batman. Paul Cornell writes something a little lighter and dare I say bouncier Batman tale, or as Damien puts it “worryingly jolly.” While I don’t know that I’ll be sticking with this book in the long run I think it’s safe to say that if you’ve liked what Grant did on the title you will be pleased with what Paul Cornell is doing in his absence.
