This is a very mixed issue. I liked a lot of the themes going on in the series, father vs. daughter, boyfriend vs. girlfriend, the secrecy and lies needed to live the lives these characters have. But some of the execution is bad. Characters as cheesy as Knightfall exist in the same world as sexist, punks with wife beater t-shirts and legit 1980s mohawks. I almost did a double take and thought I downloaded a comic from 1986. But the conflict between Barbara and her father is a good one and the ante has certainly been raised here. Simone’s portrayal of Jim Gordon is a good one and I like that he’s a major character in this series. But too many little things keep this series from going from good to great.
