Reading this book reminded me of the thrill I got picking up the first issue of MacFarlane’s adjectiveless Spider Man as a teen in the early 90’s. In hindsight, that book was written about as well as the Spider Man musical, but at the time, I thought, “Wow – this is exactly how I want Spider Man to look and feel.” That’s how I felt here. The physical energy to the whole things – and not just to Spider but to Rulk and to the Moloid attack and all the action – was shockingly electric. I don’t want to pay 3.99, and I don’t like so many titles for the same characters, but I guess I’m not sending a message to Marvel, because I’m buying this book for sure.
