I like Jeph Loeb for the most part. I just want to put that out there. Spider-Man: Blue and Batman: The Long Halloween are two of my favorite comic books of all time. But this, this is just trash.
Before I opened this comic I knew only a few details about the plot. Cable had slipped through time to take out the Avengers. It also had something to do with Hope Summers. After I finished this book I still knew the exact same amount of information. Now I’m not asking for all the secrets to be spilled in the first issue but at least give me a little something. Something to make me want to pick up the next issue. Something other than the poorest excuse for a cliffhanger I’ve read in years.
“Oh wow, I wonder if that character Cable apparently just shot in the head is actually dead? Y’know, considering he’s starring in more than 3 books right now.
The one redeeming feature was the art which was great but not the best work I’ve seen from McGuinness.

On a related note, other characters using Captain America’s shield is the new black.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 4 - Very Good
