Ok, this will have spoilers, just not tagged ’cause it ruins the formatting.

Anyhow, YES, YES, YES, YES. So much happier. Yesterday there was all this ‘Marvel Now’ stuff going on and time-travelling Bendis original X-Men and all I could think was Oh God, I don’t want this, my marvel comics cost me about 80 pence more than any other right now and they’re not even in the top 5 of comics I look forward too so honestly with my pulls this week I picked this up to read first in the same way when your a kid you eat your vegetables first. To get them out of the way.

But shit if this didn’t make me happy, this is what i’ve wanted the whole time. And Namor is brilliant, Gillen has developed him into a character I really really enjoy and Fraction does him perhaps even better here. That final two page splash just made me so happy. WAR!

Honestly this was my potw, and I can’t believe it. Now still, with the title it should be my potw every time it comes out, and perhaps a little of my joy has been from the dissapointment felt before but I really feel that if you have stopped reading this, pick it back up here, if even just for this issue, I really feel you’ll just get a massive enjoyment out of this if you’ve ever liked X-Men, it is a brilliant hit for the nostalgic comic reader in me.

However, though i’ve given the story a 5 I think that might be because I come into this as a pure X-Men fan, i’ve never really gotten into the Avengers, the movies amazing but the comics i’ll read if they’re there but i’m not going out of my way to pay money for them, but if you’re the opposite of me then I doubt you’ll enjoy this as much, the avengers almost seem weak in this, it’s become Scarlet Witch vs X-Men and though the Scarlet Witch is awesome in this (and Black Panther slapping Tony Stark is also awesome) The Avengers as a whole are just a bit crap here, which I enjoy but I imagine many won’t.
Also in my head Tony Stark wasn’t written like Tony Stark here, but that might be just because I read so little Iron Man that my idea of him is more Robert Downey Jr than whatevers in the comics right now.

But with this issue I am happy. It might not last, there’s five issues left and I can’t imagine enjoying them all, especially if it’s going to lead into ‘Uncanny Avengers’ and whatever else is going to happen, but for now i’m happy, if only because of that kiss.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 3 - Good
