Over eighteen months, featuring a huge cast of Young Avengers, Avengers, X-Men, and Dr. Doom we finally reach... a kind of mediocre conclusion. With deaths, rebirths, retirements and redemptions, you'd think this would feel bigger than it does. The bi-monthly schedule likely didn't help, but this story just failed to emotionally engage me. On paper the story sounds big and epic, but on... uh, actual paper, it felt flat. The first Young Avengers book hooked me with excellent characters that drove the story, but here the event styled story drove the characters, much to their detriment. Kudos to Jim Cheung who delivers a great looking book, but it's a shame there wasn't a better story to go along with it.
