I really didnt want to like this comic, for two reasons. One it’s a blatant attempt to cash in on the forth coming movie, and two there are already so many Avengers comics out there. But want can I say, I’m a sucker and love Avengers comics. So I brought it, but was still determined not to like it. However that plan didnt last long as I loved this comic. A very enjoyable read, and a perfect jumping on point for people who may never have read an Avengers comic before but know all the characters from the films.
The story begins with a new version of the super villian group the Zodiac coming together. Hulk then encounters one of the Zodiac in the dessert, while Hawkeye & Black Widow run into another member of the Zodiac called Taurus. Story moves along at a good pace, and leaves enough questions that I want to pick up issue two and get some answers. Only bit I didnt like was dialogue during a scene between Hawkeye and Black Widow, to me just didnt feel like a conversation they would have and especially not at that time. However rest of dialogue was good, Everything in this comic that Iron Man said, I could hear been said by Robert Downey Jr (think for rest of my life everybit of dialogue Iron Man says in any comic if I can hear Downey saying it they got the character right).
In conclusion an enjoyable comic, you dont get to deep into the characters but their is plenty of action. So if you want a fun read this is the comic for you. I give it very enjoyable 4, it loses a point for been a blatant cash in on the movie and that scene with Hawkeye and Black Widow really bugged me. Will definitely be picking up issue two, and looking so forward to seeing the movie.
