This is the best Avengers book out there right now, hands down. Sorry, Hickman. Every issue gives me something I don’t expect, and not too many comics can do that anymore. Despite being built on a hackneyed idea, the whole series is such a breath of fresh air. This issue delivers yet another ray of golden sunshine, and it really came out of nowhere. I never thought I would feel sympathy for Arcade, but Hopeless’ writing gives us a focused prequel story that starts to fill in some of the details about how he came to orchestrate his plans. I ate it up and I want more. As much as I might want to be neck-deep in the action going on back at the island, I didn’t miss it all reading this. If you have love for comics, you need to be reading this series.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 3 - Good
