Why aren’t you reading this book? This book is fantastic. Four issues in and I care immensely about six characters that I had never even heard of four months ago. This is my favorite Avengers book happening right now and people need to jump on it. In this issue half of the Avengers Academy kids decide to take advantage of a blackout during their field trip to the Raft. They decide to go “take care” of Norman Osborn, who is the responsible for screwing them up in the first place. These are all emotionally damaged kids that have been given extraordinary abilities and are now struggling on how to handle them. I can’t think of a better book to represent the Marvel Universe. My only negative thing to say is the stuff dealing with the teachers at the academy (Hank Pym, Tigra, Quicksilver, Speedball/Penance) isn’t that strong but that’s only a small part of the book. When it comes to the kids it’s pretty stellar. If you are looking for some strong character work in the Marvel Universe this is the book to read.

  1. Great review.  I will have to check this out.

  2. This was my only Avenger book until I made a last minute decision to pick up New Avengers as well.

People do need to check this title out. Issues #2 and #3 were my favorites so far but I’m a believer in Gage and this section of the Marvel U under his control should pay off for dedicated readers.
