Mike McKone is an artist whose work I like, and am pleased to say his work in this book is of a high standard.

I feel I should stop my review there, but it might look like I enjoyed this book. I didn’t. Issue one impressed me, it was well structured, the characters were quickly introduced and I was raring for the plots to start this issue.

Instead we were treated to 22 pages of how Finesse doesn’t understand human emotion. She can’t relate to her friends, her teachers, her family. All of this was obvious by the end of issue one. This story was not required.

Also I thought rule one of writing was show, don’t tell. The caption boxes (which cover up a lot Mr. McKone’s fine work) go over board in trying to make the reader understand that Finesse doesn’t understand human emtions. Chris Gage doesn’t seem to know his own strenght, last issue he subtle explained this to the point we needed to understand the story.

I was so dissappointed in this book I’m going to leave it there. I imgine the next four issues will be introducing us to characters we’ve already been introduced to thanks to the superb first issue. I might check this book out again when some sort of story starts to develop.

I hate giving bad reviews.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 4 - Very Good
