The Avengers lick their wounds and Cap opens the discussion about just who will be on the roster. One would hope he would remain loyal to those who just spent an eternity fighting back the threat from the interminable Fear Itself event.
Meanwhile a SHIELD agent has become disillusioned with the way heroes operate. She decides to take her incredibly dangerous research to the largest criminal collection of terrorists and genocidal maniacs in modern Marvel history.
I wondered if it is too soon to bring back Osborn as a threat before this issue.
Now I know it’s too soon.
Personally, I think Fear Itself has damaged The Avengers and the books need something fresh and revitalizing to shake off the tarnish.
Osborn and more Dark Avengers isn’t it.

  1. It seems like half of Bendis’s Avengers script are a “discussion about who should be on the roster” and how things are working out with that. When did pointless jokey boardroom bureaucracy become so endlessly fascinating to people? I keep trying to jump back onto an Avengers book, but every time I look into it, Bendis is still doing his Bendis thing, becoming a parody of himself almost. He’s a good writer otherwise, but editorial really needed to rein him in a looong time ago.
