I liked and yet hated this comic. I like Bendis’s writing and Bachalos art but this Fear Itself tie just doesn’t work. Bendis has a reputation for being a very wordy comic book writer and I’m normally fine with that because he can tell a great story with great character dialog and witty banter. However, when I read a comic I want to read a sequential story with great scenes. This issue reminded me more of a movie or TV story board. It was chalk full of minuscule panels with close ups on heads. I’ve enjoyed the Avengers since it relaunched. With its large scale stories, Bendis really recaptured the essence of the Avengers. However, this was just more Fear Itself filler and a definite pass.
