A very satisfying end to Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning’s run.  And to top it off, Simon Coleby draws the entire issue!  Last issue seemed a little rushed because they needed to hurry up and resolve the Gamorra storyline.  Here we get a good dose of revelation at the beginning which not only answers questions presented here, but also some that were setup in the recently cancelled Stormwatch series.  It’s good to see the majority of The Authority back to full power.  Although, I hope future writing teams don’t take for granted the lessons the team learned under DnA’s watch.  I personally stopped following The Authority a long time ago because I thought they had become too arrogant and too powerful.  But it was DnA’s deconstruction of the team that brought me back and got me to like them again.  It’s so hard to talk about this issue without giving too much away but DnA pretty much answered all the questions fans had since the series started.  The only unanswered question is the whereabouts of the last Authority member.  But I’m kind of glad that wasn’t resolved here.  It was enough to get resolutions to all the other plot threads.

17 issues is a good healthy run for any creative team and this team had a great run.  I hope people will remember this as the story that humbled Wildstorm’s most powerful team and hopefully will take them in a better direction in the future now that they see the errors of the past.

Speaking of creative teams, we get an epilogue done by the new creative team of writers Marc Bernardin & Adam Freeman and artist Al Barrionuevo.  It is a very cryptic but yet epic few pages that I think perfectly illustrate the huge plans we’ve been hearing about coming for the Wildstorm Universe.  I know I’m excited!  🙂
