Action!  Action!  Action!  That was the name of this issue.  But before we get into that, it’s worth mentioning that we get a “Previously on The Authority” on the first page much like we did with Wildcats #13 last week.  It’s a very nice add-in for new readers.

Now back to the action.  Warren Ellis fans will love how this issue begins because it is a very clever and well-done nod to Ellis’ Authority run (and not the first that DnA have added if readers have paid attention since their run began).  The action is so fast-paced and epic in this issue that when I got to the end, I almost felt like it was too short.  But with the back-up stories gone, we’re back to full page count again so it’s definitely not too short.  The Authority pioneered widescreen comics and that idea is back in a big way in this issue.  As the solicitation states, one of Wildstorm’s top villains returns this month with Kaizen Gamorra (which if you read Wildcats last week, you’ll know that they’re dealing with another big WS villain as well).  It’s great that Wildstorm’s best villains get the spotlight for a while here in World’s End.  Another thing DnA have done well during their run is great cliffhangers.  And this issue is no exception.  It brings back a severely under-used Wildstorm character back into the mix.  We are just a few issues away from the end of DnA’s run on The Authority and this has been the most that I’ve enjoyed this team since Warren Ellis wrote them.
