I think I know why I hate the art in this book so much. Everyone looks
like they are wearing lipstick after someone has punched their lips
enough times to make them swell up like a bruise. Of course there's
also the fact that a few of the pages with Hank on them looked like he
was drawn by a five year old. The story was another standard, hey this
guy we trusted is batshit insane, we need to squash him that has
plagued X-Books of late. I like Forge and this story makes him seem
like a homeless crazy Vietnam vet, which I'm pretty sure was Ellis's
idea because it totally seems like something that would make him want
to write the book. The snarkiness that is the replacement for actual
characterization that has come to define his runs is grating here.
While it worked well in Thunderbolts here, it's just too trite here.
