Another fantastic issue, this is the one book I feel that Geoff Johns is doing right. He has slowly built the Aquaman mythology complete with a new and interesting cast of characters. The villains all seem diverse and menacing, as shown in this issue with Atlantis under siege with the mysterious Scavenger, Atlantean separatists taking to the surface to break Ocean Master out of prison and Mera's people siding with the First King of Atlantis. These three plot threads, along some unexpected reveals about Aquaman's ancestors only thicken the plot. While the art got a bit patchy towards the end, the double page spread of Scavengers subs attacking Atlantis was phenomenal. As someone who leans DC, this is the only one of their books that is really speaking to me, other than Wonder Woman, Marvel is really kicking their butts. I cannot wait for the next issue however.
