I just picked up Animal issues 19 – 22 this Sunday at my local shop. I dropped off after Rot World for some reason, I regret doing that.

Some kind of animal magnetism brought me back and instinctively made me hunt in the back issue room to catch up with Buddy and family.

This issue follows a tail spin of emotion for the cast of this book. Lemire can is laying some emotional and ethical ground work with this series, like many of his other titles. This narrative is Lemire’s strength and would seem inauthentic in a lesser writer.

Pugh compliments the story, wonderful panels that harken back to the days of Creepy and Tales from the Crypt, and also continues to pull your heart strings the way Lemire’s script intends.

So if it’s a slow comic week for you and you’ve crossed off the cross overs this week, pick up this book. Animal man is a welcome beast of a book in the zoo of event books.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good

  1. I did the exact same thing. The rot had me jumping off too. But i”m back on for sure this is more like the Lemire where all used to reading.
