The series dives into the first plot, with further revelations about Maxine’s unsettling powers. Frankly, though, some of the script feels a bit…expositiony. The characters are still well-rendered, but the plot progression feels a bit rushed, crammed in around the character development. The content here feels like it could have easily been fleshed out into another issue and given everything more proper attention.

Meanwhile, the art is still sort of love or hate…I’m not a huge fan of it, yet, though it’s growing on me.

Overall, this is a good follow-up to one of the 52’s strongest first issues.
