Ok, its been a few hours since I read this but I’ll try to remember the important stuff.

If you hated the Rotworld crossover (I didn’t, but thats fine), than THIS ISSUE IS FOR YOU! It is really good, remiscent of the first 6 issues of Animal Man.

After the events of Rotworld, the Baker family is fractured and trying to adjust. Buddy faces some tough questions, and has to reevaluate being the Avatar of the Red. It ends in a really great way that I swear was Lemire saying “Nonononono, I’m gonna be different and cool and get this over with!”. The status quo has shifted in some new ways, and I can’t wait to see where it all heads.

I’ll say one more time this issue is great, I was happy before but thinking of dropping because I originally bought it to keep up with Swamp Thing but now; I’m committed to following this new arc.

One more thing, I would encourage new readers to try this issue. Yes there is some minor stuff from Rotworld, and characters pop up that were introduced earlier, but its laid out so simply and upfront you should be fine falling into the story. If you wanted to try Animal Man at the start of the New 52 but didn’t, start here.
