I feel bad for any artist who has to draw interiors for a book Amanda Conner does the cover for.  I feel doubly bad when there are, in fact, two artists who have to live up to Conner’s covers.  Especially, given that there’s no storytelling reason for two artists on this book.  There’s no alternate timeline.  No flashbacks.  No daytime vs. nighttime artist.  It’s just seventeen pages by one Javier, and five by another.  That said, I had to go back and see where the artists changed, it wasn’t an obvious bump in the story, it was a very fluid transition.    And with the Holingsworth colors, this book called to mind some of Darwyn Cooke’s Catwoman issues, in the best possible way.

I find Van Meter’s Black Cat story much more intriguing than the actual Grim Hunt storyline that this ties into.  I like getting a non-Spidey centric view of the character

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
