When I first opened this book and looked at the first page, after the “previously page” I thought, “That’s some good panel work.” Looking at the list of names on the front I thought, “I hope this Camuncoli can draw Spider-Man.” and instantly as I saw the artwork I remembered this is the guy who drew Spider-Island: Deadliest Foes and I knew the art would be very good. I don’t know how long ago Dan Slott wrote the story for this, but I think there was an Occupy Wall Street joke put in here. Though Camuncoli’s art is good in most cases, I didn’t like his work on Carli Cooper. Where Humberto Ramos made her look young and sexy, Camuncoli kinda makes her look unattractive from a distance. One of the things I lived about this story, besides how dark it is, is that Spider-Man talks about how he’s missed his “favorite-est spider-power of them all.”-spider-sense. Boy does Dan Slott know how to write Spider-Man! He’s cracking jokes even when he’s being shot at and being attacked by New York’s finest. Also the story involves what happens when New Yorkers lose their spidery powers but don’t want to believe they can’t web sling anymore. All in all this arc of Amazing Spider-Man is going to get, and I mean no disrespect to the Spider-Man mythos, a little Batmanish which is a very good thing.
