I have a big pet peeve with comics. I can accept generic covers of heroes posing. It keeps everything spoiler free, that makes sense. I hate covers that have nothing to do with the story, but look interesting. This cover would have me belevie MJ is going to witness a fight between Peter Parker and Spider-man.

The solicit would have me believe the Black Cat was going to make an apearance.

While neither of these things happened (well done Marvel Marketing), I did enjoy what did happen in this issue. An interesting conclusion to the Chamleon story. The effects of the story look like there will be consequences for Peter in the coming months, which multiple chances to the status quo.

The story set up in Kraven’s last hunt, and hinted at in Spider-man Extra and #600 takes a step in the right direction and Barry Kitson returns for the art chores.

I was tempted to give this book five stars, and I think I will.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. The solicit is for the ASM that comes out in a couple of weeks, for some reason it got put on this issue as well as the other one, but the one in a couple of weeks has Black Cat on the cover so I think it is safe to assume the solicit for that issue will be accurate.  I guess only time will tell though.

  2. so MJ has always known and Peter knows that she knows?  what????

  3. It’s like watching Lost isn’t it, we have no idea what’s going on. We’ve just got to hope the writers do. Several things could have happened. MJ was involved in the "we" that caused whatever Peter thinks created the mindblock. Or after the spell or whatever was done, Peter revealed his id to MJ, and all he post-OMD memories returned to her.

It was a nice scene though between two old firends, ex-lovers.

  4. I don’t really care that much but it seems like they keep changing the rules of the bargain that Peter made.  As somebody who just dips in and out of this series and hasn’t been reading the whole thing (and I’m not going to, I’ve tried but big chunks of it haven’t held my interest) it’s a little hard to keep track of.

  5. We’ve seen that Peter and M.J. were engaged.  It would make sense that she would know about his secret.  Maybe that’s what broke them up.  I like that it allows for a way back for the two of them; then we can see Mephisto’s deal kick in.
