Dan Slott is an amazing writer.  He must be, because it only took him two panels to send me into a blind rage.  Just when I was starting to enjoy Spider-Man again, one of my favorite characters ever, just when I was awash in the joyous news that Slott and Guggenheim were going away from this book, just when I think Marvel has decided it no longer hates Spider-Man fans and will stop needling them about what happened with One More Day, and just when I think I'm safe because the most recent issue, done by Slott, was actually pretty good... this.  I was deeply annoyed by panel two, so the annoying story-telling device of showing time progress in the real world while Reed explained the time differential one... panel... at... a... time... for... far... more... pages... than... it... took... us... to... get... it... (annoyed yet?) read as a horrible sticky point in the issue's pacing.  But Slott's not done!  He manages to, for no discernible other than to YET AGAIN needle the fans, have Mary Jane called Peter's answering machine and conveniently get cut off.  After that, I had to put this down and walk away.  I would have liked to hit something at that point, but Dan Slott was nowhere to be found.  By the way, he wasn't done.  Although it's been hinted before that Peter seems to have some false knowledge of what made everyone forget, Slott reveals the device here in a manner that completely contradicts the mechanics of Spider-Man's unmasking to the Avengers several weeks ago.  Good job, editorial.  But, to be honest, after the Mary Jane part, it was very difficult to focus on the issue.  I was honestly just too angry.  I'll be happier when the brain(less) trust is gone, the new creative teams are set in rotation, and SOMEONE remembers that the best Spider-Man stories of late don't dwell on One More Day's repercussions, and just focus on being good comics.
