This was the strongest arc of BND. I don't know if it means the book has found its stride, or just that Slott and Martin need to be the regulars on it all the time. Mary Jane in the "Panic Room" alllllmost cheesy, but Slott straddles that line as well as anyone. I'm also getting the sense that "One More Day" didn't completely wipe everything under the carpet. It wasn't a true retcon; the Peter/MJ marriage still happened, but Mephisto has wiped it from everyone's mind and altered reality so as to make it appear that it hasn't, perhaps. But in this issue you get the sense that MJ knows... something more. Almost that she's aware of what happened in "OMD". I would actually love for them to revisit that storyline in a year or two, and provide some actual consequences and weight to the action of OMD. But give Marvel credit: in not pressing the "delete" button on MJ completely, they've managed to seperate Peter and MJ in a way that doesn't have Spider-Man constantly moping for his dead/ex-wife, while keeping the popular MJ character in reserve to pop up every now and then to remind us, the reader, that here's this person that the hero is supposed to be with, but we know it, and he does not. Keeping the prize away from the hero makes for far more interesting stories than allowing the hero to win the prize and then run around with it. Marvel has effectively taken MJ away from Spidey, only to put her in front of the reader's nose like a carrot. Bottom line, she gets on a plane at the end of this issue, indicates she knows more than we think she does, Peter never knew she was there, and I want to know what happens next but may have to keep reading for quite some time to figure it out. This may be the brilliance, in the end, of OMD.

I loved the story, hated the villian.
This was another fantastic Dan Slott written of ASM! Can’t wait to read what he and JR JR have planned later on in the summer.
@mistersizzle – Really? I liked Paper Doll and Screwball (from earlier in the arc.) The creation of new villains througout all of Brand New Day is one of the things that has made the whole label work for me.
