That was the best SUPER HERO comic that’s hit the stands in a long time!!! What a relief! My concerns were:
a/ Brian Michael Bendis’ writing of the X-Men would be all about witty banter and…
b/ would be zero in terms of substantive story.
c/ I was looking for an excuse to trim all of the new x-titles down to one token monthly (monthy?!? Bi-semi-monthly?) and another punchline driven sister-book to Wolverine and the X-Men would soon prove redundant.

c/ (cont’d) Most of BMBend’s avengers books over the last few years weren’t going anywhere. Like he was bored and was chomping to get a new gig… and that this would be the next book to suffer from creative boredom.

However… Good news is, this book looks like it’s leaning more on the Ultimate Spiderman side of his creative brain.

This second issue really got me absorbed into the X-mythos again. Can’t say I’ve felt this good about a super hero “commercial” big-two (Marvel/DC) book for quite a long time.

And, the art is unquestionable terrific.
