I’m not 100% sure if swearing in reviews is allowed, so to be on the safe side, I’m gonna censor myself. However, if even hinted expletives offend you, I suggest you skip the next line…you have been warned…

I F***ING LOVE THIS BOOK!

*ahem*…yeah. This run is everything I love about comics.

Now, I’ve never read a huge amount with Lex in, mostly because I’ve always really dismissed Superman a bit, but with Cornell’s run, I’m really starting to like the character and with his upcoming Superman story in Action and Straczynski’s (ignore the spelling – I think I got it right, so I’m gonna go with it) Earth One OGN, I’ve got a feeling I might become a whole lot more interested in Supes, too.

But as I was saying, I’m REALLY enjoying Cornell’s run on Action Comics. It’s the ‘villain of the month’ aspect that I especially enjoy, and how it ties in to the overarcing story of Lex’s hunt keeps me anticipating the next issue as soon as I put one down. Oh, and the Lois-bot? Pure genius.

The art in this issue too is stunning. I’m not sure if it’s the same artist as the other issues (I don’t have them with me), but if it is, he’s really improved with this issue, especially with the Gorillas. There was one panel of Grodd pointing his gun at Luthor that genuinely made me smile.

The Jimmy Olsen feature was a fun addition, too – it’s nice to get an issue packed full of content if I’m gonna be paying $3.99 (or whatever I pay in British money…).

Oh, and before I sign off, I just have to say thank you to Paul Cornell for the last page of the Lex story. I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it but…thank you. This story is only gonna get better…
