Superman is one of those character’s that you can greatly enjoy, provided the right writer. Grant Morrison has proven himself as that ‘right writer’ before, and luckily for us, he’s proving it again here!

With issues number five and six taking a small break from the action, issue seven is back and at it with Superman going up against Brainiac! With twists and turns that’ll keep you at the edge of your seat, you can’t ask for a better story! But it’s not just the fantastic writing that makes this book my pick of the week. Morales’ beautiful art captures the drama and action of a bottled Metropolis perfectly. With just having put down the issue, and already eager for the next, you can’t go wrong with Action Comics.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good

  1. As much as I’m loving this title – and make no mistake, I am loving it – I found this issue a bit choppy in places. Particularly the dialogue at the bar.

And Superman seemed a bit too gruff with the authorities at the very start. I haven’t minded in other issues but in this one, it sort of stood out to me, maybe because it happened so early in the issue.

Still, these are pretty minor nitpicks. It’s a fun ride. And I’m loving this much more than I am the Superman title.
