This was the most fun book I read this week. It probably had something to do with the theme of the issue: poker. The story involving Wolverine and Captain Marvel was my favorite. You don’t see these two interact with each other often, well in conversation anyway. I usually prefer my comics to get straight to the punching, but this story is nothing but dialogue and I loved it. The Angel reference really tickled my fancy, as did the “Who’d win in a fight: cavemen or astronauts?’ discussion. If this isn’t funny to you then the last 3 pages will probably make you chuckle. The Thing and Gambit story was fair though I wish we could’ve seen them actually play poker instead of just seeing Gambit literally win the clothes off of Thing’s back. I will give Mike Costa credit for the ending. It wasn’t what I was expecting to happen, but I did wise up as to what was happening around the time you’re supposed to understand. I read most of Amazing Spider-Man so I enjoyed that the art was done by 2 Spider-Man artists (1 a former Spider-Man artist) in both stories. Please come back Stefano Caselli.
