As much as I enjoy Twenty-Seven, I can’t help but think the series has been marketed in a completely ludicrous fashion; sure, the idea of trying to avoid becoming a member of the infamous 27 Club wouldn’t been as successful as a weird science fiction story centred around a similar premise, but it would certainly be more what Image teased. Charles Soule continues to write a great story with some unique and strange plot twists that keep everything interesting and deceptively dark; the character of Will Garland becomes more engaging as the story progresses, but the book seems to have lost its own sense of identity and promise. Renzo Podesta hands in some decent artwork that keeps things rolling; there are a few odd moments, and the style isn’t for everyone, but it fits well with the tone of the book and the world Soule has established. It all feels strangely fictional, whereas a story about musicians should feel somewhat more grounded and relatable. It’s a problem, but not one you can completely hold against a book that still remains fun and interesting.

Story: 3 - Good
