I dropped CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS, which is crazy because it’s the final issue of the mini, and I never do that. I just can’t give them any more of my money for that book. I just can’t.

I’ll be getting my comics at Midtown Comics just south of Times Square in NYC.

  2. Batman 658
    Annihilation 4
CW YA Runaways 4 because I’m an asshole and a completist. will the artist please just look at what chase used to look like?

    UXMEN 76
    Origins 8-yes I know
    Y The Last Man 51
    Cross Bronx 3
DMZ 13-which newsarama amusingly mislabeled dmx 13 yesterday. made me say: just cause i…love my vertigo…i spend cash….for my vertigo
Punisher Holiday TPB-why not could be good right? yeah i don’t think so either but hey
I shop at Aqualonia Comics in Troy, NY

    ULTIMATE X-MEN #76 $2.99

    BATTLESTAR GALACTICA #3 $2.99

I notice no-one is buying Bullet points… don’t let the fact that this is a huge week, or the fact that it’s strazynski, or the fact that last week’s ‘what if’ sucked… (it sure has a lot going against it) Thing is, it’s actually genuinely very good, I read it in the sneak peeks, and it was great. Give it a go, if you can possibly spare the change. It is much more like the old-style what ifs, and well written and illustrated to boot. What more could you ask for?

Also Ron, you said a while ago you’d like to buy New Xmen after reading a trade… well the past few arcs have been unforgivable donkey-balls, but this weeks one was (will be) decent, and a good jumping on point, so I’d suggest starting here.

I will be buying my comics at the store where I work, http://www.comix-shop.co.uk which is a very small store nearby to Slough. I suggest you drop in, even if you live in America. And i get a 60% discount (har har har!)

  5. 52 #27
Annihilation #4 (yay you guys should talk more about this on the podcast)
    Bullet Points #1
Civil War Young Avangers and Runaways#4(ugh)
    Doctor Strange: Oath #2
    Franklin Richards Happy Franksgiving
Ultimate X-Men #76 (I’m just about ready to drop this book)
Wolverine Origins #8 (this one too)

Not a bad week for me Bullet points looks really interesting.

  6. I suggest you drop in, even if you live in America
    that’s awesome

  7. I notice no-one is buying Bullet points… don’t let the fact that this is a huge week, or the fact that it’s strazynski, or the fact that last week’s ‘what if’ sucked…

Give me a quick premise summary. You have 24 hours to sell me on this book.

I will be buying my comics at the store where I work…

You’re an employee and not an owner, right? How does that work? Do you still have to pay for the books or do you get them free? Is there an employee discount?

  8. 52 Week #27
    Batman #658
    Green Arrow #68
    Teen Titans #40
    Cross Bronx #3
    Annihilation #4
    Eternals #5

  9. CW Runaways/YA
    Dr. Strange

Is everyone hating all of Runaways/YA because of the horrible art or the storyline? It seems cliched, like any other team-up but I just love both teams…

Also got a shipment of tpbs this week including:

    Runaways
    Desolation Jones
    Young Avengers
    Top 10
    Fallen Angel
    Loki

Can’t wait to get home and start reading.

  10. STAR WARS DARK TIMES #1 (OF 5)
    52 WEEK #27
    BATMAN #658
    DMZ #13 (MR)
    FABLES #55 (MR)
    GEN 13 #2
    STORMWATCH PHD #1
TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED #2 (OF 8)
Y THE LAST MAN #51 (MR)
CROSS BRONX #3 (OF 4) (MR)
    ANNIHILATION #4 (OF 6)
CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS #4 (OF 4)
DOCTOR STRANGE OATH #2 (OF 5)
    ETERNALS #5 (OF 7)
    WISDOM #1 (OF 6) (MR)
    BATTLESTAR GALACTICA #3
    DAMNED #2 (MR)
    RED SONJA #16
    XENA #4

As usual, Fables will kick everything else’s ass this week. Y will be good too, as will Dr. Strange. YA/Runaways will suck hard as usual, but I’m stupid so I’m getting it. Annihilation will bore me to tears once again but I’ve gone this far so I can’t stop now. I’ll give a recommendation for The Damned if anyone’s interested. 30’s gangster noir but with demons as bosses and a supernatural twist. Sounds weird but it’s pretty good.

I get my books shipped weekly from DCBS. There are plenty of shops near me (Sacramento, CA) but the discounts on mail-order are far better than what I can get in stores. 40% minimum on all new books with some at 50% or 75% off? No contest.

  11. Is everyone hating all of Runaways/YA because of the horrible art or the storyline? It seems cliched, like any other team-up but I just love both teams…

Both. There is nothing good about that book.

  12. BATMAN #658
    GREEN LANTERN #14*
    SUPERMAN #657
    TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED #2
    ANNIHILATION #4
    BULLET POINTS #1*
    DOCTOR STRANGE OATH #2*
    ETERNALS #5
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #76
    WOLVERINE ORIGINS #8

    *=My prelim top three.

And 91.1 KSMU is the station that rocks!

Seriously, the majority of my comics budget goes to Caveman–er, Vintage Stock (south location) here in Springfield, Mo., the Queen City of the Ozarks. And if they don’t have what I need, I’ll spend several hours on a Saturday driving around to Vintage Stock North, Gamemaster, the Book Rack (most claustrophobic bookstore in the world), the
Dragon’s Lair and some gamer shop over by the local Fudruckers.

  13. Also Ron, you said a while ago you’d like to buy New Xmen after reading a trade… well the past few arcs have been unforgivable donkey-balls, but this weeks one was (will be) decent, and a good jumping on point, so I’d suggest starting here.

Hey Chris – funny you should mention this, I just got New X-Men TPB Vol. 2 and will be reading it on the flight back to NY later this week – I don’t think I’m going to jump on with issues though until I’m caught up on the trades..

  14. Give me a quick premise summary. You have 24 hours to sell me on this book.

Originally, Steve Rogers got the Super Soldier formula and then a Nazi spy immediately shot the scientist who invented it, effectively ending the Super Soldier program. I think in this book the Nazi shoots the scientist a moment earlier, preventing Captain America’s existence. To spice things up a bit more, I think “Uncle” Ben Parker is a soldier who gets killed in this same fracas. The loss of those two people at that crucial moment basically spins the Marvel Universe out of control from there.

If it gets mind-blowing reviews, I was going to buy the trade one day.

Civil War Runaways Etc.: it was cartoony and inoffensive, but I stopped buying it because it’s a joke of a story. I’m reading this adventure between the Runaways and the Young Avengers, when it suddenly hits me mid-#2, “Wait Iron Man arrested him, and she switched sides, and she quit the team, and this has f###-all to do with Civil War. And therefore f###-all to do with the Marvel Universe, basically. They got me to buy a story that takes place between pages 10 and 11 of Civil War #1 and inevitably ends where it began. Well played, Marvel; this $6 goes to you.”

  15. Yeah, I’m def interested in reading Bullet Points. Basically, it’s a “What If?” story on a larger scale. Or, what the “What If?” stories should have been this year.

  16. while we’re on the what if kick
    http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=90174
has an interview with the guy who wrote the what if wolverine enemy of the state story and it actually seems like it could be cool. The basic premise is what if wolverine was never unbrainwashed and began executing marvel u heroes for hydra and the hand. A little soon probably like it was mentioned here previously but still could be entertaining none the less

  17. Tomorrow is a very small week for me since Escapists #5 got pushed til next week. So, just Y: The Last Man #51 but I might also pick up the first Testament TPB. Comicology said some good things about it.

I buy my books at Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find in sunny, scenic Charlotte, NC. I actually work there on Wednesdays now so I can reap the benefit of an employee discount (40% off new comics/TPB’s). Pull isn’t the most glamorous job in the comics industry but it needs done 🙂

Side note: as a weirdo who religiously checks Diamond’s site every Monday at 5 pm, I’ve noticed that books that should be coming out on a certain day will disappear and reappear freely on the lists from week to week. Take Y this week, on last week’s list it didn’t show but here it is this week. Anyone else noticing this?

  18. i feel like a marvel whore, which brings me to my pitch:
Marvel Whores- a virus has caused all of the people of the Marvel U to become prostitutes. Who are the customers of prostitutes when everyone is a prostitute? We’ll tell that story in the book. Art by Jim Lee, story by Fred Marvel Whores presented by Alan Moore

Yes and it pisses me off because I usually make my lists a few weeks at a time so I have to go back on Tuesday and verify. It seems to happen more with DC and in the assorted categories more than with image, dark horse, or marvel. A really great example of this would be the shipping list for the 15th that is up now. The DC list will almost definitely change next monday

  20. STORMWATCH PHD #1
    PHONOGRAM #3
    ANNIHILATION #4
CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS #4
    DOCTOR STRANGE OATH #2
    ETERNALS #5
    WISDOM #1

I wasn’t too sure about Stormwatch, but the preview on Newsarama sold me. I’ll give the first issue a shot. Runaways/YA, this story has been…not great. However, it is not as bad as Civil War: X-Men was and I was able to stick that out. Even though this story hasn’t been fantastic, it is a story that could be significant to both of these sets of characters later. Especially, with Marvel Boy involved. At least that is my hope.

I get my comics at Phantom of the Attic in Oakland, in Pittsburgh. It is a great store. Small, but the best in the area. Less concentration on toys, mini-busts, and t-shirts. More of a focus on a complete selection of comics, trades and hardcovers. This store doesn’t get the hype it deserves in my opinion.

  21. Wow, a surprising huge week for me:

    52 #27
    Batman #658
    Green Arrow #68
    Green Lantern #14
    Superman #657
    Tales of the Unexpected #2
    Teen Titans #40
    Dr. Strange #2
    Eternals #6
    Midnight Sun #2

I almost decided to skip Midnight Sun, because it has been so long between issues, but the first issue was great. I forget who does it, but it is a great little book.

I can’t tell you why I’m still picking up Eternals. I’m not even sure I read the last issue. If anyone ever takes me task on waiting for the trade on another book, I’ll use this one as a rebuttal.

If you’re at the Source in Minnesota tomorrow, I’ll be the guy asking for the British anthology section

  22. Ron, are you reading the ‘New Xmen: Academy X’ trades (vol 1-3, written by DePhilippis) or the ‘New Xmen’ trades? (vol 1-3, written by Kyle)?

because of the confusing and ever-changing title of this series it is difficult to know where to start. The correct order to read them is thus:

New Mutants Vol. 1: Back to School by Nunzio Defilippis

New X-Men: Academy X Vol. 1: Choosing Sides by Nunzio Defilippis

New X-Men: Academy X Vol. 2: Haunting by Nunzio Defilippis

New X-Men: Academy X Vol. 3: X-Posed by Nunzio Defilippis

New X-Men: Hellions by Nunzio Defilippis

House of M: New X-Men by Nunzio Defilippis

New X-Men: Childhood’s End Vol. 1 by Craig Kyle

New X-Men: Childhood’s End Vol. 2 by Craig Kyle

New X-Men: Childhood’s End Vol. 2 by Craig Kyle

I think the DeFilippis stuff is the best of the bunch (ignoring the HoM stuff), and only the first Kyle trade is worth reading.

  23. 52 WEEK #27
    BATMAN #658
BATMAN AND THE MAD MONK #4
    TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED #2
    DOCTOR STRANGE OATH #2
    ETERNALS #5

“If it gets mind-blowing reviews, I was going to buy the trade one day.” That was going to my approach to Bullet Points, too, but if I flip through it and like what I see, I just know I’ll cave in and buy it.

I buy my books at Orbitron in Niles, IL (an adjacent suburb to Chicago).

  24. “Originally, Steve Rogers got the Super Soldier formula and then a Nazi spy immediately shot the scientist who invented it, effectively ending the Super Soldier program. I think in this book the Nazi shoots the scientist a moment earlier, preventing Captain America’s existence. To spice things up a bit more, I think “Uncle” Ben Parker is a soldier who gets killed in this same fracas. The loss of those two people at that crucial moment basically spins the Marvel Universe out of control from there.”

Pretty much spot on. thing is the plot isn’t what makes this book great, it is simply very well writen and illustrated. Conor, if you need something to persuade you to buy it, I simply suggest you read the first couple of pages in store, and flick through the rest; that should give you an idea about the quality, tone and style of the book.

  25. POSSIBLE SPOILER
    ***************

Have you guys seen this image yet? http://images.comicbookresources.com/litg/20061106/iron-man.jpg
It’s alleged to be the cover for IronMan #15.
I really hope that this is fake or that someone else is wearing the armor by then. I nominate Nick Fury

  26. SLIGHT SPOILER RELATING TO THE ABOVE IMAGE
    ******************************************

It’s very pretty, but it isn’t the Iron Man type-face. That said, the caption makes sense, and this could always be a new logo. I can see this happening, after all Iron Man has held high profile positions before (eg: secretary of defense for America)

  27. 52 WEEK #27
    BATMAN #658
BATMAN AND THE MAD MONK #4 (OF 6)
    DMZ #13
    FABLES #55
    Y THE LAST MAN #51
    CROSS BRONX #3 (OF 4)
    PHONOGRAM #3
CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS #4 (OF 4)
DOCTOR STRANGE OATH #2 (OF 5)
    ETERNALS #5 (OF 7)
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #76

Superman gets dropped! I’m sticking with Action Comics, but that and All-Star Superman (whenever that comes out) is all the Superman-ness I need.

Looks like a fantastic week. Y the Last Man and Fables all in one week? Oh my!

I also cannot understand the hate for the YA/Runaways crossover; I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit, but I’ve also been loving the art style of the book, which is why I might be digging it.

I give all my money to Alternate Reality in Las Vegas, the best comic store in Las Vegas, so says I. He has an incredible selection of indie books, almost to the point that it’s about evenly stocked with the super hero books.

  28. Maybe the problem is I am trying to apply real world logic to a super hero world but… during Avengers Dissassembled didn’t the U.N. sever ties with the Avengers because of Tony? Why would they put him in charge of their intelligence agency? The world doesn’t know that Scarlet Witch was behind AD, so wouldn’t Tony still be blamed for what he did at the UN?

  29. BATMAN #658
    AMAZING SPIDER-GIRL #2

And I might be sold on BULLET POINTS, but we’ll see.

I get my comics from Mint Condition in Port Washington, NY, a great little out-of-the-way shop that has more than enough to suit my needs. 🙂

  30. For ME….
    52 WEEK #27 $2.50
    TEEN TITANS #40 $2.99

And I buy my books @ Variety Comics in Chicago, IL

  31. BATMAN #658
CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS #4 (I already own the other 3, so shit, I’ll buy this one too, I just don’t have the power like Conor does to drop it. Though I agree, this series sucks ass)
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #76

I need to find new books, I’m not used to having this much money left in my wallet after Wednesday. Then again Civil War starts up again this month so…

    Green Arrow #68
    Green Lantern #14
    Superman #657
    Tales of the Unexpected #2
    Teen Titans #40

Not a bad week, i really hope Green Lantern is good, with all the delays I’ve lost all my enthusiasm for this book.

And i’ll be getting by book from Forbidden Planet in Glasgow(Scotland).

  34. i really hope Green Lantern is good, with all the delays I’ve lost all my enthusiasm for this book.

I hear you. I couldn’t even tell you what happened in #13.

P.S. Listened to the Anniversery Podcast lastnight. Had several odd stares at the gym when I burst out laughing at some of the clips at the end. Keep up the good work.

    ETERNALS #5
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #76

  37. BATMAN AND THE MAD MONK #4
    DR. STRANGE: THE OATH #2
    ANNIHILATION #4

I recieved a Batman subscription for my birthay and I’ll have to wait a week or so to see “Batman and Son” resolved. It’s a shame that Ron isn’t getting it though, because I have a feeling that it’s going to be POW material.

I by my books at “THE DRAGONS CAVES”

  38. ANNIHILATION #4
    BATMAN #658
    BULLET POINTS #1
    ETERNALS #5
    FRANKLIN RICHARDS HAPPY FRANKSGIVING

I’m going to be trying out a store near my work this week, rather than going to the one I usually go to near my house. I’ll be shopping at H.A.L. Comic Strip, in District Heights Maryland. I’m just trying it out.

  39. BATMAN #658
    BULLET POINTS #1
CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS #4
CSI DYING IN THE GUTTERS #4
    FRANKLIN RICHARDS HAPPY FRANKSGIVING
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #76
    WOLVERINE ORIGINS #8

I order from Midtown cause I don’t drive and the closest comics store is 30 miles away.

  40. Ok, well there is a 5-page preview of Bullet points #1 up here, for those of you undecided about it you can catch a glimpse and decide wether it is for you. Sorry, normally I wouldn’t go on about a book like this, but Conor threw down the gauntlet ;p

    http://www.newsarama.com/marvelnew/Nov06/previews/nov8th.html

  41. Yes and it pisses me off because I usually make my lists a few weeks at a time so I have to go back on Tuesday and verify. It seems to happen more with DC and in the assorted categories more than with image, dark horse, or marvel. A really great example of this would be the shipping list for the 15th that is up now. The DC list will almost definitely change next monday.

So, just out of curiosity, do the lists change on Tuesday or the next Monday?

(And I actually go through Marvel’s, Vertigo’s, Dark Horse’s, and Image’s sites months before and put all the comics I plan to get in my Outlook calendar/Pocket PC.)

  42. My picks for this week:

    – Green Lantern #14 (Didn’t he save some people or something in 13? I dunno, I’m just picking up the book because of my blind allegiancefor anything GL)

    – Dr. Strange: Oath #2

    – Bullet Points #1

Man, another WEAK week for me. I shop at Sky High Comics in Temecula, CA. Looking for a new place, though. Two dudes work there, and they never say a WORD. It’s almost awkward just looking at books. Plus the place is ALWAYS dead, so when you go in, all of the silent attention goes straight to you. Weird.

  43. 52 WEEK #27
    BATMAN #658
    GEN 13 #2
    GREEN LANTERN #14
    SUPERMAN #657
TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED #2 (OF 8
    TEEN TITANS #40
    BULLET POINTS #1 (OF 5
DOCTOR STRANGE OATH #2 (OF 5)
WOLVERINE ORIGINS #8 (My last issue, thank goodness!!!)
    BATTLESTAR GALACTICA #3

I also may pickup FF: the End based on Ron’s comments from the podcast and maybe the first issue of Deathblow from Azzarello. Did anybody read this last week?

I’ll be getting my books from Comic Cellar in Memphis, TN. They’re pretty small but they have a really good selection of back issues.

  44. I haven’t been by in a very long while, but I’ve still been listening to the podcast and visiting the site. School’s been killing me. Congrats on your anniversary.

This is what I’m buying this week.
    52 WEEK #27
    BATMAN #658 $2.99
    BULLET POINTS #1 (OF 5) $2.99
    ETERNALS #5 (OF 7) $3.99

During the summer I bought my books at Star Books and Comics in Lubbock, TX, where Alex Ross grew up!

  45. 52 WEEK #27
    BATMAN #658
    FABLES #55
    Y THE LAST MAN #51
    PHONOGRAM #3
    ETERNALS #5

    Fables #55
    Y The Last Man #51
    Cross Bronx #3
    Phonogram #3
    Doctor Strange: The Oath #2
    The Eternals #5

I hope Phonogram picks up a bit with this issue. I wanna like it, I really do. Just kinda slow and not too much of a story. Same with freaking Eternals, too. At least I have Fables, DMZ and Y to fall back on. They will most definitely be at the bottom of my read pile. Yay! Vertigo!

My paycheck ends up at Vintage Pheonix here in scenic Bloomington, Indiana. Sitting right smack between RISE Skate shop and Roots Vegetarian restaurant.

  47. So, just out of curiosity, do the lists change on Tuesday or the next Monday?
monday around 5 so this week’s already happened. There is a url trick to see it a bit earlier sometim es but I absolutely will not bore you with that

  48. also using the publishers’ sites for release dates never works. The dates on there are at best wishful thinking and at worst out and out lies.

  49. 52 Week #27
    Batman #658
Batman and the Mad Monk #4
    Gen 13 #2
    Stormwatch: PHD #1
    Punisher #40

Love Matt Wagner’s recent Batman mini’s. Really good solid comics.

Probably shouldn’t be bothering with Gen 13 but I kind of enjoyed the first issue in spite of the woeful art.

Looking forward to Doug Mahnke’s work on Stormwatch PHD. I’m a big fan of his stuff.

  50. _I dropped CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS, which is crazy because it’s the final issue of the mini, and I never do that. I just can’t give them any more of my money for that book. I just can’t._

Good for you. Don’t be a victim of Comic Book abuse.

    52 WEEK #27 $2.50
    BATMAN #658 $2.99

    GREEN LANTERN #14 (RES) $2.99

    BULLET POINTS #1 (OF 5) $2.99

MARVEL ADVENTURES FANTASTIC FOUR #18 $2.99
    NEW X-MEN #32 $2.99
    PUNISHER #40 (MR) $2.99

My wallet. She weeps. She weeps the large tears of sadness.

  51. CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS #4 (OF 4) $2.99
    DOCTOR STRANGE OATH #2 (OF 5) $2.99
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #76 $2.99
    BATMAN #658 $2.99
    SUPERMAN #657 $2.99
    Y THE LAST MAN #51 $2.99

I will be buying my books at Midtown comics, though I’m not sure if I’ll be going to the Times Square or Grand Central branch. I may be getting my $20 bonus this week.

  52. “I hear you. I couldn’t even tell you what happened in #13” (of Green Lantern).

I know it was like two months ago, but it was awesome. There was Superboy-Prime and hints about 52. Can’t wait to see what happens next. I think the writing and art was good, but I, too, hate the fact I’m getting 8 or 9 issues a year right now. I like Ivan Reis, but honestly, he’s not John Cassaday or Quitely. I’m willing to take 6 or 7 issues of Astonishing and AS Superman a year, but I’ll take a fill-in issue of Green Lantern to get the story.

Can’t believe I’m still up watching CNN in hopes of getting my local Governor race called (I’m from MN and it is a THRILLER).

  53. My first post!

My list for this week will be

    52 WEEK #27
    BATMAN #658
BATMAN AND THE MAD MONK #4 (OF 6)
    DMZ #13
    CROSS BRONX #3 (OF 4)
    ETERNALS #5 (OF 7)

I pick my comics up every friday from Mekanik Strip in Antwerp, Belgium. Friday is new comic day here in Belgium.

The comic I’m probably most looking forward to is cross bronx. Really good series.

Wish I never bothered with Eternals. I can’t resist a new Neil Gaiman book but this just feels like he’s contractually obliged to write it for marvel and isn’t really giving it what he could. Its disappointing every issue but I find it hard to drop a mini series knowing its coming to an end shortly anyway and maybe the end was worth the wait. Unlike civil war xmen which was just crap!

And why is Batman and the Mad Monk $3.50? Are DC planning another price increase soon and testing the water or what?

  54. Batman and the Mad Monk is $3.50 because it’s a special format printing, not sure wether there are more pages inside, or less ads, but the cover slip is higher quality paper. I read the first issue and dropped it straight away though.

I’m loving Eternals however, I think that a lot of its praise is going unheard because f the Civil War hype, but i think it is a genuinely interesting and well crafted story. JRJR seemed an odd choice at solicitation, but after seeing what he has done with the book, it makes a lot more sense.

Its hard to say what my most anticipated book is this week… it’s between Fables, Green Arrow, Batman and Eternals.

  55. This is an extremely light week for me.

    52 WEEK #27
    BATMAN #658
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #76

  56. I’m really loving the Eternals. Really.

  57. I’ve been reading the Eternals as well and I feel like it would make a good trade probably. I just don’t really remember the intricate details of the story from one issue to another. It’s been kind of irritating. If it were any longer than 6 issues I would drop it and wait.

  58. I think the Eternals might just be good. But I do think that the schedule has hurt it. This not Gaiman’s best work, but it might be JRJR’s. It’s not bad Gaiman, but I find myself really wanting him to break out of this “secretly a god” schtick he does over and over. I just listened to the Anansi Boys book on my ipod, and it’s the same thing. I really begin to wonder if he can do anything else. I mean, his words and characterizations are great, but every time I read a Gaiman story, I know it’s going to end up that someone is a god and didn’t know it.

  59. and so easy to relate to. I remember that time that I forgot that I was a god
    damn that was tough

  60. Anansi Boys IS a secretly a God story. You like, knew that going in.

    Hope it’s not Nazis!

  61. “So, just out of curiosity, do the lists change on Tuesday or the next Monday?
monday around 5 so this week’s already happened. There is a url trick to see it a bit earlier sometim es but I absolutely will not bore you with that”

You can also see Midtown’s shipping list on Sat/Sun which is accurate as it comes straight from Diamond.

“I’ve been reading the Eternals…If it were any longer than 6 issues I would drop it and wait.”

Well, it is actually 7 issues now instead of 6. Too bad they don’t tell us that going in!

  62. Well, it is actually 7 issues now instead of 6.
    uggh

  63. ANNIHILATION #4 (OF 6) $2.99
CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS #4 (OF 4) $2.99
    ETERNALS #5 (OF 7) $3.99

What a nice light week. I’m sure they’ll get my money next week.

I shop at Purple Cactus Comics here in San Antonio. They give me 20% off all current books. Great staff!

  64. Let’s see:

    Batman #658
    Eternals #5
    Phonogram #3
    Cross Bronx #3
    Irredeemable Ant-Man #2
    Beyond #5
    Dr Strange #2
    Criminal #2
    52 #27
    Franklin Richards Happy Franksgiving!

As for comic shop, well, I usually go to either isotope (cooler store) or Comix Experience (right by my apartment) in San Francisco, but lately I’ve been getting my books online (’cause I’m poor and it’s much cheaper that way). Hope James isn’t reading these… eep!

  65. When did Eternals get an extra issue??

What a nice light week. I’m sure they’ll get my money next week.

Have you seen next week?? Civil War! Astonishing!! Astro City!!! Escapists!!! Get to the pawn shop this weekend!!!!

  66. Does anyone who posts here live in southern California by chance (I mean down past LA, more towards S.D.)? I really need a new store but can’t find one for the life of me. I live in Murrieta, go to school in Palomar, and am always in or near Carlsbad/San Marcos/Escondido. PLEASE someone help me….my store sucks!

  67. Wow. Jimski’s last post has made me glad I’m saving my money this week.

I live in NY so I can’t vouch for any of these but if you go to:
    http://the-master-list.com/USA/California/index.shtml
They have addresses for stores in Carlsbad, San Marcos and Escondido

  69. ULTIMATE X-MEN #76 $2.99
    WOLVERINE ORIGINS #8 $2.99
    SUPERMAN #657

I might also pick up Criminal 1 and 2. I intended to last week, but forgot on my way out of the store. After the pick last week I think I will.

My store is Gem Comics in Elmhurst IL. It’s a suburb of Chicago I pass through on the train home. Since it’s right next to the train stop I started getting off, getting comics, and catching the train again to go home.

I’m in the midst of moving though so this will be my last week. Does anyone in the Chicago area have recommendations for a new shop?

I work downtown on Michigan Ave (lets just say that some people say I’ve taken my Superman envy a bit too far).

I will now live up in the Lakeview area on Marine Dr.

    Any suggestions?

  70. http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=90408
Part 1 of Jim Lee interview about why his books are always delayed. Part 2 has been resolicited for June

  71. That’s funny.

(Not the interview, I haven’t read that yet)

  72. thanks. I went for that over:
The interview has been broken into 2 pocket sized pieces

  73. Spiffy, if you’re moving to Lakeview, you should check out Chicago Comics on Clark (a couple blocks north of Belmont) – it’s a huge shop, wide selection, totally fun to browse around cuz there’s all kinds of stuff. If you want to go by where you work, there’s a Graham Cracker Comics at Madison & Michigan; while I’ve never been there, I know they’re pretty big and have a buncha tables at Chicago-Con.

  74. batman #658
    bullet points #1
    doctor strange oath #2
    ultimate x-men #76

yeah…i think i’m dropping phonogram, i’m not cool enough to get it

comics n’stuff off the 805 south, plaza blvd exit. (my store, good selection)
hope that helps and good luck!

  75. i got the normal books:
    eternals
    punisher

    batman
    anniliation
    dmz
& a coupla others i cant tink of off the top of my head. but i think the most important book out this week, after about 5 years… PEEPSHOW #14 by joe matt (drawn & quarterly)first book i read from my stack & it was good just like all the other peepshow books. did anyone else pick this up? if so what did you think?

  76. sorry my dumbass fault that shoulda been 52. :-/

  77. Thanks much for all the help on a new shop guys.

I know we’re not supposed to post here about books we’ve read from this week, but if you haven’t bought your books yet I’d highly recommend Bullet Points #1.

I picked it up cause I had a light week and I love it. It’s very much Marvel’s version of ‘The Nail’. I’ll keep buying them. They really seem to nab the heart of the character(s) while still messing around with them.
