  1. im seeing it on imax tomarow with my sister. Im so excited!!!!

  2. scratch that im going to see it on imax saturday night

  3. It starts at my local theater on Friday. And I am sooo gonna be there. I have been really anxious for this movie ever since I heard about it. Like most people I assume.

  4. I was lucky enough to see it last night at the movie theater I work at. It was awsome. It felt like a piece of art. It was beautiful. Gerard Butler did a fantastic job of playing the moderatly insane King Leonidas. The seven of us who watched it wanted to kick some ass after the movie was over. It really draws you in. I can’t wait to see it again.

  5. Hell, I want to kick ass after watching that trailer! I’m excited!

  6. “Hell, I want to kick ass after watching that trailer! I’m excited!”

But let’s be honest Conor…what doesn’t make you want to kick ass?? 😛

  7. Unicorns.

  8. lots of Boobies :-0.

did not except that, but this film it looksssssssss fantastic! :- )

  9. i like Boobles:-)

  10. I’m seeing this tomorrow at the theaters and I’m wicked ass excited. The graphic novel is so spectacular and the movie looks to emulate it all the way. Can. not. wait.

  11. “i like Boobles:-)”

Last time I checked Bobbleheads were not quite as exciting as Boobies. But to each his own. 😛

  12. hay man the main guys wife

  13. IMAX tonight @ 12:01

    Tonight we dine in hell!

  14. You couldn’t keep me away from this film, I’m skipping class and work to go see it, and I’m dragging the people who are iffy about it. I want this movie to make money, hell I’ll pay 20 bucks for it.

And I’m trying to find an IMAX around me, for the beauty that is this film. gaaaaaaahhhhhh!

  15. There is a joke here about Boobies and kissing ass instead of kicking it but I can’t seem to put it together.

  16. I’m sitting in the theater right now waiting for the movie to start. Can’t wait!

  17. I’m going this afternoon (wellto be fair, I’m going to buy tickets to Wild Hogs and then sneak into 300) It’s cool though, my dad was going to take me, but he’s been roped into an evening with my mom so the whole sneaking in is cool by him.

Besides, I’m 17 in three months.

  18. I actually had a free pass to an advanced screening on Monday, but I wasn’t able to go.

I was welcoming the first ifanbaby into the world, Kate Schark. My wife says she’s bound to grow up to be a P.I. and speak noir. Guess I better take care of all my Brubaker.

  19. An interesting little note about the above trailer:

    http://www.aintitcool.com/node/31814

  20. Whoa.

  21. IMAX tix purchased… Hooray for 90 foot boobies!

  22. at 1:52 into this video there is a image of Rorschach in a Hat on the street. It looks cool.

  23. Here it is.

    http://www.chss.iup.edu/journalism/spj/rorschach.jpg

I’ll be taking this down later today as to save bandwidth. So save it if you want it.

  24. It’s also in the link above that Ian posted. 🙂

  25. Excellent…can’t wait to see it =)

  26. I don’t actually read any of the forum.

  27. That picture of Rorschach is pretty badass. If 300 is as phenomenal as it looks, then I’d bet my bottom dollar that Watchmen is going to be just as amazing as all us fanboys hope it to be.

  28. Saw it at midnite, and it was pretty damn good. Not perfect, but really good. A couple of kids even came dressed as Spartans; little crotch piece, sandles, helmets and all.

  29. That picture of Rorschach is pretty badass. If 300 is as phenomenal as it looks, then I’d bet my bottom dollar that Watchmen is going to be just as amazing as all us fanboys hope it to be.

    You’re different than me. 😉

  30. You’re different than me. 😉

You don’t hope it will be good? I don’t want it to get made either, but now that it is being made I have no choice but to hope it’ll be good. There’s no sense in hoping it will be bad.

  31. OH MY GOD!!! I LOVED IT!!!!

I don’t quite feel like an adequate man now though. Those guys were ripped and Leonidis was a badass. I am excited about comic book movies again, and after Ghost Rider I thought I would never enjoy another one.

  32. Allow me to clarify:

A good trailer gives you no guarantee of a good movie.

Also, he sounds so postive and hopeful. I’m just…not. I’m cynical and bitter, and give no one the benefit of the doubt. Except Brubaker.

  33. Except Brubaker.

    Not even Vaughan?

  34. Wow. It was a lot better than I expected.

    Richard
    http://1rightopinion-comics.blogspot.com/

  35. Not even Vaughan

joke wouldn’t have worked if I made a list.

    Shit, I explained it.

Not funny any more. But was it ever? Really?

  36. 300 rocked, unsurprisingly.

But then, I don’t normally choose to see movies that suck, so I’m pretty much always guaranteed a good time at the movies.

  37. This movie was so incredible, there were so many moments that the action had me so exstatic tat I was laughing with delight.

Oh yeah, I work out for 4-5 hours a week, and I look like 3 year old compared to all of the Spartans in this movie, their training regimine must have been intense!

  38. You boys are so easily entertained with boobs! Why do you think fat guys stay home more often than not… they HAVE boobs!

Hell yeah those guys were ripped! Now you know what girls talk about on forums. lol

I’m going to see it tonight, should be good. I love popcorn and cherry Icee!

  39. Josh, I think it’s ok to be cynical when it comes to Watchmen, especially because it is such a cherished book among the comic folken.

I’m optimistic though, for two reasons: 1) Zack Snyder did an AMAZING job with 300. 2) Even though League of Extraordinary Gentlemen sucked ass, V for Vendetta showed how Alan Moore’s work can be translated to a solid movie. I’m thinking Watchmen with a Sin City style and 85% of the story would be pretty rockin’!

On another note, does anyone think the stranded ocean guy story will be in the movie?

  40. On another note, does anyone think the stranded ocean guy story will be in the movie?

Nope. It’s not integral to the main story.

  41. The queen is my fucking hero!!!

I personally don’t think that they did justice to the immortals characters. I won’t go into too much detail, cause I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. But it was a really good movie, very gory and active. Not a boring part to it. There is even a little comedy added.

  42. “…and I’m wicked ass excited.”

Neb, that is the best form of excitement, ever.

  43. Nope. It’s not integral to the main story.

You would say that, seeing as tou haven’t ever read it! 🙂

There is even a little comedy added.

There seemed to be about the same amount of humor in the movie as was in the Graphic Novel

  44. Indeed it is Zack. Indeed!

  45. US BOX OFFICE – FRIDAY

    1. 300 – $27.8 MILLION
    2. WILD HOGS – $7.8 MILLION
    3. ZODIAC – $2 MILLION
    4. GHOST RIDER – $1.9 MILLION
    5. BRIDGE TO TERABITHA – $1.7 MILLION

  46. It was awesome. I really enjoyed it. Even having the guy narrating throughout was cool. It made me think that this mythical version would be what it would look like in the minds of Spartans as it was re-told. Glad they did the bluescreen. It made it like the comic book without taking away from the story, and it didn’t just become another braveheart. A+

  47. Looking forward to this. But am I the only one who doesn’t think Imax makes movies look better? Imax makes me cry.

  48. But am I the only one who doesn’t think Imax makes movies look better? Imax makes me cry.

I get where you’re coming from. Unless a movie is shot on the large format IMAX film, or at least 70mm film, it’s a little like blowing he picture up too much.

Like watching the standard definition network programming on an 60″ HD TV. (Which people often do in the wrong aspect ratio as well.)

Plus, if you’re going to IMAX, don’t EVER get caught in the front.

  49. Wow.

    US BOX OFFICE – WEEKEND
    1. 300 – $70 MILLION
    2. WILD HOGS – $28 MILLION
    3. BRIDGE OT TERABITHA – $6.86 MILLION
    4. GHOST RIDER – $6.8 MILLION
    5. ZODIAC – $6.7 MILLION

  50. I teach World History in an urban high school and telling the story of the 300 (more from the Graphic novel than the textbook) always gets attention. This year I showed the preview. This was back in October, and all last week my kids were saying “Gonna see 300?”
    I did.
    It rocked.
I’m giving my kids extra credit who saw it too.

  51. More interesting box office info:

Its achievement was all the more noteworthy given that the previous record-holder for the month, 2006’s “Ice Age 2: The Meltdown,” with $68 million, was a family-oriented cartoon, while “300” is an unabashedly gruesome spectacle with an “R” rating that prevents viewers under 17 attending without adult supervision.

In fact, the opening for “300” ranks as the third-highest for an R-rated movie, behind “The Matrix Reloaded” ($91 million) and “The Passion of the Christ” ($83 million).

  52. Just went to see 300… It was sold out.. on a sunday.. at 7 pm..
SO I saw Black Snake Moan instead. It was a really good movie.
Maybe the only time ever in my life where I actually wanted Christina Ricci to put some clothes ON…

  53. Hi Conner.
RE: 300 vs. Ice Age 2
I had a different take on it. Since IC2 is a kids film, most of the ticket sales are for matinees where tickets are cheaper meaning overall ticket sales are lower. If North America went the European way of a “Head Count” then I think you would have a more accurate view of who is seeing what.

That said….300 was cool. Our company did over 50% of the visual effects and as a comic reader I was thrilled to see my work on a Miller classic up on the big screen.

  54. Since IC2 is a kids film, most of the ticket sales are for matinees where tickets are cheaper meaning overall ticket sales are lower.

Are matinees still cheaper these days? Because in NYC the only showing that is cheaper than normal is the first show of the day, otherwise it’s full price all the time.

  55. I will admit that prices very region by region, but there still are quite a few places offering cheaper prices. There were a few cases where it was argued that if they did a head count instead of ticket sales, a different winner would have been declared. The only one I can think of on the top of my head is Minority Report and Lilo & Stitch. That said, I do agree with your point that the “R” rating kept the numbers lower then they would have been with a “PG13″….it would also have made for a bad film.

  56. That said, I do agree with your point that the “R” rating kept the numbers lower then they would have been with a “PG13″….it would also have made for a bad film.

It wasn’t my point, I was quoting an article on the weekend b.o.

But you’re right, I don’t want to have seen a PG-13 300 movie. That would have sucked.

I wish there was a better way to track movie success. There’s a reason why most of the top grossing films are all from the last 10 years or so. If they went by ticket sales the number one movie wouldn’t be Titanic.

  57. I love hearing the meaningless box office stats reported every Monday morning. “This was the best second weekend in March in recorded history!, replacing the previous record-breaking year, last year.” “This was the best Wednesday opening in February ever!, since the last time there was one.”

  58. Will some one tell me what the deal with the Goat-Man in the brothel was?

  59. I have no idea but I loved it
When he came on screen I turned to conor and mouthed “WTF?”

  60. the review podcast is listed on itunes under 2/11/07, wrong month. just thought you guys might want to know.

  61. Did anyone else want to kick some serious ass after they watched the movie. I can’t wait to see it again. I am getting a bunch of my female friends together to go and see it. A couple of them are interested in finding the graphic novel also.
