Talksplode #71 – Judd Winick

Show Notes

Thanks to iFanboy patrons, it’s another iFanboy comic creator interview, or as we call it, the Talksplode.

Judd Winick was known to many as a cast member on the third season of The Real World, but he’s also a long time comic book veteran, having written and drawn the classic Pedro and Me, Barry Ween Boy Genius, and spending 11 years writing superhero comics for Marvel, DC, and others. These days, Judd is working on the all ages adventure series, Hilo from Random House. Josh and Judd go through the whole comic book career, and have a lot of fun doing it.

You can find out more about Judd Winick at juddspillowfort.com.

Doing the podcast is fun and all, but let's be honest, listening to the 2 of us talk to each other can get repetitive, so we look to you, the iFanboy listeners to participate in the podcast! "How can I get in on the fun?" you may ask yourself, well here's how:

  • E-Mail us at contact@ifanboy.com with any questions, comments or anything that may be on your mind.

Please don't forget to leave your name and where you're writing from and each week, we'll pick the best e-mails to include on the podcast!

  1. Does anyone else get the Jason Aaron talksplode in their iTunes or is it just me?

  2. Love having Talksplodes to listen to! Interviewing is a difficult art form unto itself that few have mastered, even among professionals. And with good reason. It’s hard to listen and respond to comments in real-time, all while keeping next questions in mind and steering the interview along an organic path, not a prescribed one. If you can do it, insight and even revelation comes along as by-product. Josh, you’ve become one of the best interviewers out there — in any context. In other words, you got this. Keep ‘em coming! Thanks, guys.

  3. Great interview. Hilo is my new favorite thing. It’s outstanding!

  4. I enjoyed this discussion. I just used the Amazon link to buy a copy of Hilo for my son!

  5. Finally got around to listening to this Talksplode, and am very glad I did. Learned a lot about Winick’s career and artistic perspective, stuff I’d never heard him discuss before. You really are a skilled interviewer, Josh
