As one of those guys who is not a Venom fan (and is less excited about this movie because it removes Spider-Man from the equation) I am finding it pretty hard to work up enough excitement to go see this in the theatre. The fact that you guys are saying it’s “fine” doesn’t really spark any flames in me though it’s nice to know the movie isn’t actually a dumpster fire. I’ll probably check it out when it hits digital in some form.
That’s Academy Award winning Suicide Squad.
That Kiefer Sutherland song…good grief…that is bad.
It would have been interesting to see what you would have said about this wreck if it were a DC movie.
Michelle Williams was completely wasted in this movie. She had absolutely nothing to do, and was completely dull. As for Hardy, not his best work, by a mile. Hearing you guys trash every DC movie (other than Wonder Woman), yet give this one a virtual pass confirms what I already knew.
Which is what? What do you know?
There is a heightened criticism in regards to DC movies over Marvel (properties). When I saw the hideous review scores I was thinking no way could it be THAT bad. It most certainly was. The writing was terrible. Effects (by today’s standards) were lazy. Acting was hollow and downright off-putting…yet I have to hear Ron say it was good? You then make “It wasn’t awful” sound like a roundabout compliment. Slap a DC tag on this movie, you all would have had it toe tagged and buried.
This is ridiculous. These guys have proven themselves time and time again that all they want is good movie and which company has released it is irrelevant. There’s been plenty of MCU films that they’re ambivalent on and several X-Men film that guys like Ron have outright hated. I’m pretty sure most of them would say The Dark Knight is one of the best superhero films ever.
All other DC movies have been trash and deserve their criticism. And they didn’t give this a “virtual pass.” Give me a break.
Have you seen Venom? If so, what was your take?
When I read titles about what a ‘Massive Success’ Venom is I am confused.
As of this moment Venom has managed 470mil worldwide and only 179mil domestic.
Sure those are big numbers but with any movie when you consider budget and promotion not as much.
Remember how everyone thinks Spider-Man 3 was a flop?
Sure it was bad and Venom is merely “O-K”
But that Sam Raimi movie grossed 890 Million dollars worldwide.
It’s crazy how people look at things sometimes.
