  1. Thank you for your podcasts, always good to hear your ideas.

Interesting show, two aspects caught my attention, one was your analyses of an old comic comparing it with present interpretation and expectations, that would actually be an interesting show on its own.

The other aspect is something I’ve been thinking a lot for some years now, the comics done in America, that I most enjoy are all somehow abandoned, Jupiter’s Legacy, Southern Basterds, Goddamned, Nowhere Men, Saga and more that I don’t remember, this very sad and it seems only the Batmans and Spider Mans comics tend to survive.

You mention Rick Remender, and I’ve read a lot of he’s books, but I don’t think he’s stories are at the same level as the ones I’m referring.

At the same time, I’m discovering very unique Manga, “Eden – It’s An Endless World!” And “All-Rounder Meguru” by Endo Hiroki what a discovery I highly recommend.

Also “I am a Hero” by Kengo Hanazawa super interesting manga, I dropped Walking Dead comic because it felt to me like a very constrained project, for many reasons, Kengo Hanazawa went all the way.

Stay safe, and please don’t inject disinfectant haha

    • I agree with your recommendation for I Am A Hero. It iis fnatastic. I buy the two in one jumbo volumes.

    • I’m pretty sure Jupiters Legacy did finish, there was a gap where Jupiters Circle was made but legacy finished its second volume. I don’t think Millar intended much more than that. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if he returned to it.

But I really loved Nowhere Men, when Stephenson brought that back it didn’t feel the same and I have no idea if he ever finished it with the new artist drawing it.

    • @Invincipal in the las JL book Vol.2 number 05 from 2017 it says “End of Book Two – Jupiter’s Requiem begins – 2019”
I remember reding in the letters Millar saying something like he learner he’s lesson and that he only releases books when they are almost finished, so I assume his waiting for Quitely to finish most of the art.

@saxman69 I got most of the Mangas from amazon some years ago, they are all published by Dark Horse in the west, in Europe it’s that or comiXology, I think

    • @saltini oh yeah, that sounds familiar, thanks for the reminder. You’re totally right, hopefully its released someday but who knows.

  2. I also dropped off Saga where i would have continued if it was consistent. Say what you want about Walking Dead, but its consistency was it’s strong point. Also while I’m not sure I was happy with where BPRD went but i never dropped off because it was consistent month to month. In contrast Low which I think is one of the best comic reading experiences i’ve had in while is really frustrated by the frequent breaks. Also it’s manga so not entirely the same thing bit I’m a huge Hunter X Hunter fan and that’s been plagued with long hiatuses for years. With Low and Hunter I felt the experience was strong enough that I put up with it and just force myself to be patient. For some reason Saga just wasn’t strong enough to keep me abroad. It’s not a bad story so it’s an interesting meditation on what the difference is for me. I’ll think about that for a couple years and get back to you on it.

  3. Sorry Conor, regarding the left panel stacking email I don’t really understand “trolling” either, right after I clicked send I thought “that probably wasn’t a fair characterization.” Maybe I figured it was a riff because it made me laugh. But you’re absolutely right, I don’t think there’s anything in the universe that we’ve encountered that is more individual and unique as the brain and we all have our own grooves carved. So much so that the word “neurotypical” is starting to be replaced by “neuromajority”, because there really is no such thing as typical with the brain.

  4. Comics starting and stopping kills me. I’m not smart enough to remember 30 different stories week to week not to mention if some take a year or two (or ten) off. I also don’t have the time to go back and read them all to catch up. Super frustrating. I might start buying in trades only going forward post plague. Speaking of, I just finished all of Y the Last Man for the first time today. Ooof got me right in the heart. Actually cried.

Thanks, guys for all you do. You make Mondays something to look forward to 🙂
