  1. RE: First audience email question. The double page spread was in Superman #19, not Action Comics.

  2. Bryan Q. Miller wrote a great Damian in his Batgirl run where the dynamic with Stephanie worked. That has been forgotten at this point and I feel like Bendis is being given too much credit here with the way he writes Damian. He is just continuing the dynamic that Tomasi set up in his Superman run and later Supersons. Tomasi also wrote Damian fairly well in his Batman and Robin run. When Jon isn’t allowed to join the Teen Titans, Damian genuinely feels bad for him and he dropped his guard many times with Jon so it’s not an original concept by Bendis. Tom Taylor did a great job with Damian in DCeased where he is likable and then his version in Injustice is not a good person. That’s it though besides Grant Morrison writing him well. I do love the Grayson issue when Dick reunites with everyone and the way Damian interacts with Dick. A lot of writers don’t know how to write Damian well though.

    • When grant Morrisson was using him in the Batman and Robin run, Damian was interacting with the Dick Grayson Batman and I think that might be key to the character working. When they are sibling rivals he works, once it is father and son, that’s a completely different ball game.

  3. Harley Quinn has been an anti-hero for years now and only makes sense at that table in certain scenarios like Injustice and DCeased which were both written by Tom Taylor. Superman still wanted her dead after what happened with the Joker in Injustice, but she wasn’t a murderer in those series. She was a villain in the animated series and Batman still bought her that dress since she wasn’t inherently bad. I would argue that Tom Taylor is the best Harley Quinn writer besides Paul Dini and her relationship with Black Canary is great as shown in this thread from Injustice Year Two:

He knew how to give her humanity and you buy into the idea that she would be accepted by others. I did love the running gag with how the Arrow Cave should be called the Quiver from Injustice Year One:

It makes no sense in the current continuity especially with being part of the Suicide Squad. Harley has been over exposed and a series featuring her, Green Arrow, and Black Canary by Tom Taylor would be great. I would also just want a Green Arrow and Black Canary series by him. DC really should put him on a bigger comic.

  4. I think it makes sense in an age where a single writer only sticks around for 6-12 issues of a book that some characters will follow that writer around as their “pet” characters. I kinda like that idea since it allows them to give that character a long arc across books effectively achieving the same things as sticking on one book and writing that one character for years.

Though I agree Galactus is over used and that’s a problem when he really should be an event. Feels wrong.
