  1. Wow, is it geeky to say “first” here? Either way, feels good. My list:

    52 WEEK #37
    SPIDER-MAN REIGN #2 (OF 4)
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104 (finally the end of the Clone Saga)

Wow, Conor, I’m with you on both 24 and The Office, although Heroes also has a special place in my heart.

  2. See, now that’s why we need to be able to edit our posts. I was so geeked out over being the first poster that I actually typed Wow twice.

    I’m such a dweeb.

  3. Yeah, we don’t do “First!” here. You get flogged for that.

If ever we shall meet, Ron is going to break out his cat-o-nine tails…

  4. The scariest thing about Ron’s cat-o-nine tails is the outfit that goes with it. So unnecessary

    SPIRIT #2 $2.99
    Y THE LAST MAN #53 (MR) $2.99
    CABLE DEADPOOL #36 $2.99
    FANTASTIC FOUR #542 CW $2.99

    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104 $3.99
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #78 $2.99
    X-MEN FIRST CLASS #5 (OF 8) $2.99

    I can’t remember a week this light.

I think I have to go for a tie between Heroes and 24

  5. CABLE DEADPOOL #36
    FANTASTIC FOUR #542 CW
    SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #34
    SPIDER-MAN REIGN #2 (OF 4
    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #78

wow what a light week, do comics come out on thursday beecause of the holiday? My favorite TV shows are Lost and Scrubs

  6. 52 WEEK #37
    GREEN LANTERN #16
    SPIRIT #2
    FANTASTIC FOUR #542
    GHOST RIDER #7
    SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #34
    BATTLESTAR GALACTICA #5

A second light week, my wallet breathes a sigh of relief.

While the Office is very funny, especially for us cube dwellers, nothing makes me come closer to painting the television week after week than 2 1/2 Men.

  7. Y THE LAST MAN #53
    SHE-HULK 2 #15
    SPIDER-MAN REIGN #2
    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104

    Fence riders:
WISDOM #2- I liked #1 okay, but this mini has already switched artists and seems to be slipping into the lateness zone. I probably ought to say no.

EXILES #90- Ach, my guilty pleasure is being taken over by Claremont, which I believe bodes extremely ill.

God help me, I think it’s 30 Rock. Heroes is definitely a candidate as well.

  8. I worship 30 Rock and the genius that is Alec Baldwin and Dr. Spaceman.

  9. 52 WEEK #37
    SPIRIT #2
    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104
    Y THE LAST MAN #53

Man, we are going to get hammered soon. This is just not enough comics.

Best show on? Right now, it’s the Office for me.

  10. FANTASTIC FOUR #542
    SPIDER-MAN REIGN #2
    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104

Favorite TV Series this year: Heroes

  11. Green Lantern #16
    Red Menace #3
    The Spirit #2
    Y: The Last Man #53

    Fantastic Four #542
    Sensational Spider-Man #34
    Ultimate Spider-Man #104
    Ultimate X-Man #78
    X-Men: First Class #5

TV, eh? Haven’t watched much this year. I wait for DVD on most shows, now-a-days. I try and catch the new Mythbusters whenever that comes on. Scrubs I love. My Name Is Earl kicks all kinds of ass, as does The Office, but I rarely watch new episodes when they air. So is the fate of a kid who works during prime-time hours.

  12. i might just be saying this because i just watched it, but 24 right now is probably the best i’ve seen so far this season. no show so far has had as heart wrenching an episode as 9:00-10:00. as far as comedy, desperate housewives

    52 WEEK #37
    SPIRIT #2
    Y THE LAST MAN #53
    SPIDER-MAN REIGN #2
    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #78

  13. 52 WEEK #37
GREEN LANTERN #16 (just started picking this up. Bought 14 and 15 last week. Not really sure what the hells going on but its really good! I want to get the rebirth trade and the rest of the issues.)
HELMET OF FATE DETECTIVE CHIMP #1 (Not sure about this one, gonna check it out in the shop first.)
SHE-HULK 2 #15 (Not really sure why I’m still buying this.)
Pretty small week which is good. Too many bills this week!

Favourite TV shows, I know there not on anymore but its still Twin Peaks and On the air (lynchs comedy series, anyone else see that?)

  14. DC

    52 Week #37 $2.50
    Shadowpact #9 $2.99
    Spirit Vol 6 #2 $2.99

Maybe Detective Chimp. I’m considering trying out Dr. Fate since DC canceled Firestorm and Manhunter out from under me.

And I never get to watch TV except for on DVD two years later. I still haven’t finished season 3 of 24. Its just sitting in my DVD binder mocking my lack of TV time.

  15. 52- This has actually kept my ADD brain interested the entire time

    Green Lantern- its getting better

    Helmet of Fate- just curious

Shadowpact- hasn’t let me down yet

Ultimate Spiderman- though the clone saga is pissing me off…when will it end?

Cable and Deadpool- each month there is usually at least one line that makes me laugh (who brings a grenade to a bar?)

Is Wisdom worth picking up? I liked him in Excaliber

Favorite show this year? 24 and Lost have won me back….and Heroes won me over

  16. FANTASTIC FOUR #542 CW $2.99
    SPIDER-MAN REIGN #2 (OF 4) $3.99
ULTIMATE POWER #1 DIRECTORS CUT $3.99

Drama: Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip; Comedy: How I Met Your Mother

  17. 52 WEEK #37 $2.50
    GREEN LANTERN #16 (RES) $2.99
    Y THE LAST MAN #53 (MR) $2.99
    FANTASTIC FOUR #542 CW $2.99
    SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #34 $2.99

    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104 $3.99
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #78 $2.99
BEST OF SKETCH MAGAZINE VOL 1 2ND PTG $18.95

    Fave Shows? Heroes and Scrubs.

Ps. what has everyone thought of SPIDER-MAN: REIGN, so far? it seems EXACTLY like DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, but for Spidey. A character is even called Miller Janson. I love Kaare Andrews like nobodies bidness though. and of course, i’m a Spidey completist, so i have no choice!

  18. though the clone saga is pissing me off…when will it end?
    this issue

  19. “this issue”

that makes me more than happy…i didn’t like it the first time around and i haven’t enjoyed it this time

  20. GREEN LANTERN #16
    CABLE DEADPOOL #36
    GHOST RIDER #7

Hot damn! Any ideas for trades I can spend my budget surplus on?

Oh, Battlestar Galactica and the oh-so-tasty Earl/Office combo.

  21. “this issue”
I’m tired of defending it so I’m happy to see it go as well. I have found it to be better than people want to admit it is because it’s the clone saga. It has been very loooooong though

  22. 52 WEEK #37
    BIRDS OF PREY #102
    GREEN LANTERN #16
    JLA CLASSIFIED #32
AVENGERS EARTHS MIGHTIEST HEROES II #5
    EXILES #90
    FANTASTIC FOUR #542
    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #78
    X-MEN FIRST CLASS #5

Not a huge week. Good. I still have books from 2 weeks ago to read. Hate being behind like this.

Top three TV shows (in no order): Heroes, Lost, House. I would include Galactica in that too, but I’m watching that on DVDs.

  23. 52 WEEK #37
    CABLE DEADPOOL #36
    DAILY BUGLE FEBRUARY
    EXILES #90
    FANTASTIC FOUR #542

    SHE-HULK 2 #15
    SPIDER-MAN REIGN #2 (OF 4)
    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #78

  24. as for TV shows Heroes, studio 60, How I Met Your Mother

  25. How I met your mother is great. So is the Class

I just watched Season 1 of Dexter over the weekend. Holy crap it’s good. For those of you who don’t know: it stars Michael C Hall(David from Six Feet Under) as a forensic blood spatter expert by day and serial killer by night. It has this awesome William Blake style duality to it that I think anybody who is a little twisted can enjoy. It’s also darkly funny.

  26. AVENGERS EARTHS MIGHTIEST HEROES II #5
    FANTASTIC FOUR #542
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104 (am I the only one enjoying the Ultimate clone-saga?)
WISDOM #2 (I said the only way I’d buy the second issue of this is if it came in a light week and here we are)

The only new television I watch regularly is Smallville and now I realize I need to watch more T.V. I catch a lot of stuff on DVD. For instance I am into the third season of Arrested Development and what a good show that was.

  27. I’m not picking up anything this week.

    Best show: South Park

  28. DC
    52 Week #37
    Birds of Prey #102
    Green Lantern #16
    Omega Men #4
Helmet of Fate: Detective Chimp #1 (Maybe)
    Shadowpact #9 (Maybe)

Best Show: Have to go for 24, those first 4 episodes were fantastic.

  29. ESSENTIAL X-FACTOR VOL 2 TP

    ULTIMATE X-MEN #78

SOOOOOO light this week. gah! Well maybe I’ll pick up some trades.

Fav Show – South Park, gotta agree
with Brandon, it’s been at the top of its game this year. Office is great and…Rescue me.

  30. Y THE LAST MAN #53 (MR) $2.99
    SHE-HULK 2 #15 $2.99
    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104 $3.99
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #78 $2.99

I’ll start buying FF again when JMS leaves. The laqst three issues have each made me angry.

Best show: I can’t believe nobody has said The Wire, which for me continued to be head and shoulders above everything else this year. Trailing behind it I have Heroes and 30 Rock.

  31. You guys are right about South Park. It’s had an epic-ly funny season.

I just got Project X Challengers: 7-11 in the mail, looks just as good (if not better) than Cup o Noodle.

  32. 52 WEEK #37
SANDMAN MYSTERY THEATRE SLEEP OF REASON #2 (OF 5) (MR)
    SHADOWPACT #9
    TESTAMENT #14 (MR)
Y THE LAST MAN #53 (MR)
    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104
    WISDOM #2 (OF 6) (MR)
    BATTLESTAR GALACTICA #5
    LOST BOOKS OF EVE #1
RED SONJA SHE DEVIL WITH A SWORD ANNUAL #1

Best drama: Battlestar Galactica / Lost
    Best comedy: The Office

  33. – Fred

I read the first book they based that off of. It was pretty good. I should probably get around to reading the second. Its just sitting next to 24.

  34. I never read the book so I don’t know how faithfully it was translated but in any event the series is great and fucked and completely a great example of someone creating a character that you shouldn’t root for but do anyway.

  35. I would have said the Wire, but it’s not really this year or season. I’m not sure when it’s coming back for the final season. It might be a while.

Also, the Shield is starting up again soon, and then, all bets could be off.

  36. FANTASTIC FOUR #542 CW $2.99
    SHE-HULK 2 #15 $2.99
    SPIDER-MAN REIGN #2 (OF 4) $3.99

    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104 $3.99
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #78 $2.99

Light week… I might not even get Reign…

  37. on dexter:
Another funny point was that I really didn’t know the background on the series going in and when I realized what it was it made something from iFanboy really funny.
Back in the thread for the Escapists #6 POW Darrel had said:
    I watch Dexter for inspiration
For some reason it stuck in my head and then I found out about the show and went oh….. ohhhh
    of course

  38. the Shield is starting up again soon
when how soon excited need info

  39. Fantastic Four #542
    Ultimate X-Men #78
    Y The Last Man #53
    Ultimate Spider-man #104
    Superman: Emperor Joker

    Favorite Show: SMALLVILLE

  40. If I was home, I could check the Entertainment Weekly that came out two weeks ago that had return dates for shows in 2007.

  41. 52 WEEK #37
    RED MENACE #3
    CTHULHU TALES 2ND PTG #1

Any recommendations for Batman: Year One Hundred? I’m considering purchasing it through one of this site’s Fine Sponsors…

Favorite Show: The Office. It’s the show I look forward to the most, hands down. Honorable mention for Bones and Friday Night Lights.

  42. What a horrible, horrible week. Yeah, the whole easy on the wallet thing” is fine, but a two book week isn’t even worth going to the store for.

    Who’s got POW duty?

GREEN LANTERN #16– Geoff Johns is usualy dependable

HELMET OF FATE DETECTIVE CHIMP #1 Going to see if this Fables guy’s any good.

24 is my favorite so far. (I missed last night’s two hours, so I;m going to buy the DVD today.)

Heroes and Lost are both okay (Heroes is going down while Lost is getting better)

  43. Oops, screwed up the HTML

  44. Do comics come out tomorrow or Thursday with the King Holiday?

  45. Who’s got POW duty?

    Ron.

Do comics come out tomorrow or Thursday with the King Holiday?

    Wednesday.

  46. Red Menace #3
    Spirit #2
    Ultimate Spider-Man #104
    Ultimate X-men #78
    Battlestar Galactica #5
    Classic Battlestar Galactica #3

Best shows of the year are Battlestar Galactica and the hour of the Office and Earl. Right on Mister S

  47. I also picked up Project X: Cup Noodle on Ron’s urging a few months back. I picked up the 7-11 book and have yet to read it. But the one I just got in the mail and I am very excited about is the Project X: Datsun Fairlady 240Z. Comics about cars!

  48. 52 WEEK #37 $2.50
AQUAMAN SWORD OF ATLANTIS #48 (RES) $2.99
    BIRDS OF PREY #102 $2.99
    CATWOMAN #63 $2.99

MARVEL ADVENTURES FANTASTIC FOUR #20 $2.99
    SHE-HULK 2 #15 $2.99
    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104 $3.99

Sad to say, I’m mostly watching repeats this season. I catch Hereos, Dr. Who and House when I can.

  49. P.S: mister s, I’d really recommends the Iron Ghost TP if you have interest in pulp style story telling, or just a pro-Nazi killing mindset. Damn Nazis.

  50. I’m sure this week’s books will be fine reads and wise purchases, but I think the part of Wednesday I’m most looking forward to is whatever was being teased at the end of the last iFanboy podcast.

  51. Yes! I forgot about that. Only one more day to wait.

  52. “I’m givin’ away free money! And WHERE is the Batman?”

  53. ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104 (am I the only one enjoying the Ultimate clone-saga?) – Dave Graham

Um, yup. You and Fred, apparently.

Any recommendations for Batman: Year One Hundred? – PV

I read it when it first came out and really dug it, although I don’t think it ended terribly well.

So glad to hear others are enjoying “Studio 60”. I think it started a little roughly, but it’s totally finding its footing. Now, if they’d just get rid of Sarah Paulson…

  54. 52 WEEK #37
    SPIRIT #2
    Y THE LAST MAN #53
    GIRLS #21
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104 – I also have been loving the Clone Saga, haters be damned.
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #78

    Favorite Comedy – The Office
    Favorite Drama – Studio 60

  55. I will go as far as to say if Peter ended up being a young clone of Richard Parker (not Richard the clone of Peter) I would applaud Marvel for doing some truely different with the Ultimate version of the character. Doc Ock/Magneto was a bit weak in my opinion, but it didn’t spoil the arc for me. Some great Spidey/Fantastic Four material has come out of it. What’s the deal?

  56. Oh, by the way, a quick shout-out for the new season of Ricky Gervais’ brilliant “Extras”. The first episode of the season is available for free via iTunes. Good stuff, yo.

  57. Ricky Gervais’ brilliant “Extras”.

Orlando Bloom was damn funny in the season premiere. And I love Steven Merchant as his mananger. I thought Season 1 was a little uneven but this season started with a bang.

  58. 52 WEEK #37
    AQUAMAN SWORD OF ATLANTIS #48
    BIRDS OF PREY #102
    GREEN LANTERN #16
HELMET OF FATE DETECTIVE CHIMP #1
    JLA CLASSIFIED #32
    RED MENACE #3
    SHADOWPACT #9
    SPIRIT #2
    FANTASTIC FOUR #542

This seems to be another light week, but I am looking forward to it. It’s a good week to be a DC fanboy. I’m looking forward to the Helmet of Fate series leading into the new ongoing. Red Menace has also been a pleasant surprise for me, I really enjoyed the first 2 issues.

The best show on TV is 24, without a doubt. It consistently provides an hour of uninterrupted action.

  59. 52 WEEK #37
HELMET OF FATE DETECTIVE CHIMP #1
    RED MENACE #3
    FANTASTIC FOUR #542 CW
    ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS #2

even thought i never miss “heroes” or “scrubs”
mty favorite show is “studio 60 on the sunset strip”
best show on t.v and it just gets better.

  61. Conan #36
    Spirit #2
    Y The Last Man #53

Really small week – thought Invincible #38 was hitting this week too. Dang.

The Office has been great. Wrapped up a while back, but the fourth season of The Wire was awesome. Let me also put in a plug for the second season of Spaced back in rotation on BBC America and the first two episodes of Extras on HBO which are viciously funny.

  62. Thanks to whoever fixed my post!

  63. 52 Week 37
    Birds of Prey #102
    Catwoman #63
    Green Lantern #16
    Shadowpact #9
    Superman Emperor Joker TPB
    Testament Volume 2
    Fantastic Four #542
Ghost Rider #7 (I’m dropping this)
    Spider-Man Reign #2
    Ultimate Spiderman #104
    Ultimate X-Men #78

    Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, and Lost!

  64. ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104 (am I the only one enjoying the Ultimate clone-saga?) – Dave Graham

Um, yup. You and Fred, apparently.

Why not go for the hat trick? I like it too. I’d only read one issue of Ultimate Spider-Man before issue 97 (Isn’t that when this whole thing started?), and that was issue 15. So this was ALL new to me. At first I was confused as hell, but I actually dig it now. And I think Fred’s right, a lot of people are bashing the book solely on the fact it’s another Clone Saga. Yet at the same time, I can totaly see why people don’t like it. It’s confusing.

  65. Looks like a good week to grab a trade. I’m thinking of giving Invincible a try. Either that or score myself the third Ex Machina. Any other suggestions out there?

I’m digging Battlestar Galactica. The boxing episode was DOPE!

  66. Conan #36
    52 #37
Helmet of Fate Detactive Chimp #1
    Red Menace #3
    Spirt #2
    Fantastic Four #542
    Spider-Man Reign #2

    Drama: Heroes and Lost
    Comedy: Office and Earl

  67. Conan #36
    52 #37
Helmet of Fate Detective Chimp #1
    Red Menace #3
    Spirt #2
    Fantastic Four #542
    Spider-Man Reign #2

    Drama: Heroes and Lost
    Comedy: Office and Earl

  68. Curtis, on the trade question, you might want to try the Whiteout books by Rucka. They are really good.

  69. Iron Ghost TP. Check. I hope my LCS has it. Sounds more like something Roblaw would be into – that guy loves him some dead Nazis.

  70. 52 WEEK #37
    GREEN LANTERN #16
HELMET OF FATE DETECTIVE CHIMP #1
STORM PREMIERE HC (for my best friend)

Light week for me.. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing..

A friend of mine got me hooked on NCIS but I love Heroes.. 🙂

  71. Wow, light week for me. I don’t envy the Picker of the Week for this week.

    52 #37
    Green Lantern #16
Sandman Mystery Theater: Sleep of Reason #2
    Spirit #2

and I’ll take a look at the Helmet of Fate.

Not a single Marvel or Indy title!

As for TV series: I only discovered The Wire this year, so I should say that, but since I’ve only seen seasons 1-3, that shouldn’t count. I watch a LOT of TV, and I like most of it. Let’s put it this way: Lost is the only show I record on the DVR and watch immediately that evening. Well, and American Idol. But that’s more of a community event for my friends and me.

As for Best New Series – that’s Friday Night Lights. Sorry Heroes fans.

  72. The Spirit #2
    Comedy: 30 Rock
    Drama: Studio 60
REALITY or DOCUMENTARY or whatever: One Punk Under God

  73. Woo! Power came back on in my building about four hours ago. It’s still pretty cold in my apartment since the heater is having to warm the whole place up from something around 30 degrees F or so. And now I can read comics by warm, glowing incandescent light! We’re just hoping it doesn’t go out again.

Aaaaaaand another slow week on the comics front, though my Web orders are starting to roll in. Finally flagged down the UPS lady today for my Fantagraphics order.

    SPIRIT #2
    52 WEEK #37
    ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #104
    GREEN LANTERN #16
    ULTIMATE X-MEN #78

If the Spirit was as fun as it was last time, it’s a shoe-in for my POTW–though the Ultimate Clone Saga (Claga?) is finally wrapping up, right? That should be pretty good as well. Hell, comics can totally blow this week–I’m just happy to have electricity again.

  74. Aaron, our area’s electric company is administered entirely by chimpanzees. Did you lose power during either of the year’s previous two (?!?) multi-day outages?

Cheer up, though: no national guard this time!

I’m looking very forward to the first issue after the Clone Saga. Not because I dislike it, but because I cannot fathom where they go from here.

  75. 52 WEEK #37
    BATMAN YEAR 100 TP
    SPIRIT #2
    SPIDER-MAN REIGN #2
    SHE HULK 2 # 15

Hey, is that Sandman Mystery Theater mini any good?

    Drama: Lost/Heroes
    Comedy: The Office/Daily Show
    Other: Mythbusters

  76. Jimski–

Are you served by AmerenUE? I know just about everyone in the state hates them for a variety of reasons. AmerenUE is also the reason why my hometown is overrun by tourists for several months out of the year.

This was the first time I’ve lost power in my apartment for any extent of time. And the National Guard has set up shop down here.

  77. If I remember correctly Spirit #1 was dick in a box fantastic

  78. “Hey, is that Sandman Mystery Theater mini any good?”

It’s a little too early to tell. I didn’t love the first issue, but I think it is more that I was so attached to the Wagner/Davis series. It’s certainly a different approach. I’ll let you know more after tonight.

  79. Glad to know I’m not the only one who didn’t blow it all over the place for Spirit #1.

  80. I thought it was spectacular. i indeed blew it all over the place

  81. Ron and I loved The Spirit #1 and said so on the show!

    Darwyn Cooke – he’s good.

  82. I’ll join in the love club for The Spirit #1. It was great!! It makes me want to read more by Cooke. If I’m not mistaken, isn’t he the guy who wrote and drew New Frontier?

  83. yes indeed he did and that is a great purchase to make. awesome. I’m not even that into DC and I was blown away by it

  84. Fred- yesterday I said I wasn’t digging the Clone saga….I just finished 104 and well I changed my mind. Bendis pulled it off. So you were write

  85. thank you sir

  86. sorry- right not “write”…..so tired

  87. To me is seemed like Spirit was too similar to an episode of Batman the animated series.

  88. To me is seemed like Spirit was too similar to an episode of Batman the animated series
then I’m genuinely sorry I skipped the animated series. It was cool. I dig it

  89. Yeah, yeah, dog the Spirit, but I’ve got a sneaking suspension that it’ll be this week’s POW.
