Booksplode #24 – Green Lantern: Earth One, Vol. 1

Show Notes

Thanks to our awesome Patrons, we’re proud to present another Booksplode!

What’s a Booksplode you might ask? It’s a bi-monthly special edition show in which we take a look at a single graphic novel or collected edition, something we really just don’t have time to do on the regular show.

This month, Josh Flanagan and Conor Kilpatrick take a look at Green Lantern: Earth One, Vol. 1 by Corinna Bechko, Gabriel Hardman, Jordan Boyd, and Simon Bowland!

Running Time: 00:27:00

  1. I was so excited for this and didn’t disappoint. This was so fun!

  2. I was a little bit underwhelmed. I guess I’d give it a B? I liked the artwork a lot, and some of the changes to the GL mythos were interesting, but the plot itself just didn’t pull me in. Part of it is that I felt the Manhunters were too two-dimensional, they’re simply these generically menacing tools of the true villain – the Guardian – who we just don’t get enough of here. But I also felt like Jordan was maybe too much of a passive hero, fighting the fight mostly because he was pushed into the center of it.
